liberals for staying out of the war in Iraq. they've got my vote for a few years because of that, sponsorship scandal or not.

Muslims probably are in favor of Liberals because of their views on immigration, multiculturalism and because they aren't too pro US.
I don't like Paul Martin because of the sponsorship scandal and the CSL but I'd rather have a Liberal government because the Conservatives are too pro US. I hope NDP wins but I don't think they have enough support.

I voted NDP, although my riding is pure conservative...the incumbent will win again no doubt...she won in a landslide 60% of the vote last election...so really, if i voted liberal to counter that, it wouldn't have done much...my NDP candidate is a social activist and a university student...so i voted for him...i just hope we have a minority conservative gov't...because in that case...NDP hold the balance of power...

Time For Change After 12 years of Liberal rule, Canadian voters have decided that it’s time for a change – electing Stephen Harper’s Conservatives to a minority government. As the numbers continue to come in, the Tories were sitting at 122 ridings where they’re leading or ahead, with the Liberals sat at 104, the Bloc Quebecois at 50, and the NDP at 30 seats. The Conservatives campaigned on a platform of government accountability, tax cuts, and a crackdown on gun crime, and the momentum for the party was so strong in the past few weeks that it appeared they were headed for a majority government. But Monday’s results showed that that was not going to be the case – as wary voters gave more seats to both the Liberals and the NDP than was first expected. Assuming Harper holds on to form the government, he’ll have to rely on the support of at least one opposition party in order to survive. Still, for a man many thought would never hold the keys to 24 Sussex Drive, it’s a major victory, and could spell the end of Liberal Leader Paul Martin’s political career. As expected, the Tories won much of the Western provinces, taking the majority of the Prairie ridings. However, their biggest coup was in the vote-rich province of Ontario, where they were on track to win double the number of seats they won in the 2004 election. They also won a few seats in Quebec, where they were shut out last time. However, they didn’t gain much ground in the Maritimes, winning only nine of 32 seats up for grabs there. One of those wins was for Conservative Deputy Leader Peter MacKay, who was re-elected in Central Nova. "We have more seats now than we've had in the last 12 years," MacKay said of the results. "That signals that Atlantic-Canadians have embraced the change, have embraced this modern vision of the Conservative party." As for the Liberals, their biggest blow came in Ontario, where they were poised to lose nearly 24 of the 75 seats they took in 2004. They also suffered in Quebec, not surprising considering the sponsorship scandal, leading in only 14 of the province’s 75 seats. Jack Layton's NDP did better than expected – at last check leading or elected in 31 ridings. They won 19 seats in the last election. |

the main thing for all pakistani canadians is that it doesn't matter WHO you vote for...it matters that you vote at all. If you vote you become a statistic...statistics become lobbies if pakistanis don't vote at all then why would someone care about what pakistanis want? why would they waste time talking to us or listening to us if we don't vote at all? so vote and become a statistic...doesn't matter who you vote for...so you can make THEM work for YOUR vote...

i think mona has got it right here...damn tories, harper will now kiss bush's behind and we will be like the UK. i would've voted for the liberals, but i went to sleep early (so i could wake up for the match
)...it didn't matter really because the liberals in toronto have superb support. not one conservative seat from the toronto area, only a couple for the ndp.

i could care less about the gay marriage issue in canada...who the hell cares if tom and joe want to get married? as long as it doesn't affect me i don't give a flip...canada is a secular state so i don't care...frankly, there are more pressing and more important issues than this...

I guess a weak conservative government is not that bad after liberals pretty much ran the show for most of the decade. I dont think conservative will last long enough to actually lean too much towards the US. Hopefully there will be a re-election in 2-3 years time the liberals will come back more focused and the conservatives will be out for another decade.
