Importance of Mental Toughness and Role of Sport Psychiatrist

(Moderators plz don't merge, it's differet subject)

I always maintained that Pak did't lost major matches against India like Mohali Semi Final, Asia Cup on cricketing skills but due to lack of mental toughness. No body in Pak ranks was accepting the fact from long that Mind is like a muscle and it is also need exercise, stretching and training to get stronger.

In every modern sport, every sportmen use techniques like viualization, affirmations and many others to increase mental strenght. Only Whatmore was able to identify lacck of mental toughness in Pak players and requested appointment of Babri. Full credit to him and it clearly made a difference.

Mental toughness is cultural. However, one can induce temporary state of enthusiasm and willpower from speeches before a match.

Having said that may be I am totally wrong and perhaps there are some techniques that Babri guy is teaching the kids. Any case, not bad to hire somehow for that as it may help some

No i am not talking about temporary motivation boost by motivation speech. Visualization, relaxing and thousands other techniques are used to create permanent mental patterns in mind. And to replace old negative patterns. Law of attraction is also well proven and documented method.

Seeing a shrink is a major sin in Pakistan. That defies their manliness.

if they are having a problem with that, sure, why not get a help for it.
