Wankhede: worst crowd?

Seriously, this crowd is terrible. I thought Eden Gardens was bad, but these people take the cake.

They booed Sachin Tendulkar...SACHIN TENDULKAR! Totally disgraceful, I wonder how the poor guy felt afterwards! Not only was that low, their constant anti-Pakistan jibes were pathetic and classless. I wonder what would happen if we ever play India in Mumbai.

Sure Sachin is past it, but why boo such a great servant to Indian cricket for the past 15 years?

If anything, he deserves a far better exit, imo.

Thats why our 'Jeet lo Dil' approach (by fans and admin) really peed me off - knowing what they were like over there.

Dont recall any 'anti-Indian' taunts or chanting in that. Idiots running onto the pitch-Yes.

Also, there is a world of difference between ex-pat fans in a 3rd country.

We are talking about about a home INDIAN crowd - if you caompare 'like for like' (i.e a home Pak crowd), all they chanted was niceties towards India.

Idiot Pak home crowd is my verdict for being so gullable

Calcutta 96 or Calcutta 99 where everyone was 'lathi-charged' out of the stadium?

lathi-charged! From what I have heard, the Eden Gardens also booed India and actually cheered for SA when the two played an ODI there last year!! Why? Because Ganguly was sacked from captaincy and was not playing.

The Pak crowd changes when Afridi is concerned - booing Malik/Pak Mangt when Afridi didnt come out to bat is as bad as it gets - I would be very disappointed if Pak crowds cursed India.

Best to say nothing than to engage in that behaviour - low class menta;ity

Regardless....I believe that Indian Crowds overall have been the worst all through. Take in Mumbai, Kolkata, even Jamshedpur , there are countless instances. One ground where people have been really good is Chennai but there might be some incident I am not aware of somewhere.
A few weeks ago when we were discussing the racial taunts in Australia, I was thinking that disgusting or not , atleast they werent viscious. These ones are viscious. Sadly, I do not think there is anything that can be done except ban and prosecute certain perpetrators very publicly. The huge population just means that many greater idiots, who just have enough money to buy a ticket.
Some guys might think they were justified based on the teams performances....but just as being drunk doesnt justify your running over someone, being dissapointed doesnt justify your forgetting all norms of civility.

Pakistan crowds are being too nice and polite to India, when we go there they show us full hate and when they came to us we just smile and treat them like royalty! India is our enemy and India is still occuyping Kashmir yet when they come to Pakistan look at the 'we want peace' banners, what kind of naive/gulliable mentality is this?!!

Pak crowds overall are highly civilized and cultured. Same cannot be said of the Indian ones - worst deeds were when they barraged Windies cricketers with bottles, litter etc. when Team Indian was getting beaten. OK you can have the odd nutter who can spoil the atmosphere but when you have hundreds and hundreds of such uncouth idiots running riot, it is Indian crowd at its best. Classic was the '99 Calcutta Test match when Dalmiya ordered the police to kick out each and every spectator from the ground so that the match could be finished. There were reports of even fans in VIPs getting their backs belted when they refused to vacate the ground. Historic. They deserved that.

i really hope one day we play a test or an odi at mumbai in front of a packed crowd and afridi does a kanpur or shoaib (or someonelse) does a kolkatta '99. boy, the scenes in the stands alone would be worth watching.

Indian crowds are the worst in the world.

In terms of sportsmanship and appreciating good cricket, Pakistan crowds are by far the best. This Jeet Lo Dil mentality goes too far. I think we should make the opposition 100% feel that they are ALL ALONE in Pakistan. No we should not throw bottles at them, no we should not set fire to the stadium when we lose (as regularly happens in India)...........but we should create an atmosphere that is 200% behind Pakistan and 200% against our opposition.

West Indian crowed is not all that sporting, to be quite honest with you majority of english crowed is quite responsive of good cricket. WI crowed do invade pitches when other team seems like that they are going to win.

In the presentations, Dravid was getting interviewed and doing his best to ignore the enormous chants for Ganguly.

I did feel a bit sorry for him, he did wrongly insert England in this match (what a nice man ) but seriously, his batting has held together India in all 3 test matches and they wouldve lost the series without him. He seems like such a down-to-earth classy cricketer as well.

The Wankede stadium was appropriately named because the Indian authorities knew it was going to be populated by bigotted Indian wan*ers.

they were also hurling abuses (in hindi) at flintoff and his mom. i would be ashamed if NSK or any other Pak crowd ever behaved like that.

on a side note, i personally feel that the nsk crowd is brilliant. they support the team, the don't support the opposition, but when someone from the opposition does a good job or makes a good play, they always applaud. good sporting, supportive crowd.

So Flintoff and his mother were insulted by these wankers, but he still was a class act as usual after the game, has praised India throughout the series and never mentioned the derogatory chants.

Next time india come to Pak i will personally go at the Lahore cricket ground and hurl degratory remarks about india.
I'm gonna have a field day tomorrow at Uni . The look on the indian faces 2mrw at uni would be priceless esp the hindus and sikhs. From my experience indian muslims do not give a sh.it about their cricket team and quite rightly so.

Having been to most test countries:

the best crowds (i.e. appreciative of good play even if its the opposing team) are Pakistan and England (though this is offset by the drunks who think they are funny but are in fact morons).

Worst - Australia but even they're nowhere as bad as India. Sadly Indian crowds are getting worse and on occasions are little better than animals.

Legend.

At Gaddafi in the last Series, Pietersen and Flintoff became instant hits with the Pak fans and there names were being chanted. Our section of the crowd was chanting Freddie-Freddie a lot when he was bowling from this end, to which even the Englishman appreciated. This was the day when Akmal and Yousuf built that mammoth stand.

Paksters appreciate great cricketers - Indian crowds generally just get hysterical and rabid though due to their game.

i would suggest you dont do that, dont go the same road as the indian ********, if you do then no difference between us and them

Yeah your are right Cavin !! Although the guys suggesting that the crowd should appreciate good cricket!! Well I differ I think the crowd should support the Home team as hard as they could without offending the other team!! Whats the home crowd for!! Also out of the stadium they should treat the visiting team as their guests!!! Indian crowd has gone mad after the repetitive failure of their best batting lineup and big names mayby that makes them abuse the other teams and Pakistan born Owais Shah!! I have no doubt they must have abused Monty also!!!
