Msgs of condolence for Rana Naveed , our hero of the day.

Rana seems to have the same workhorse mentality that has endeared Hoggard to English fans.

I know that Rana has some time to go but to me he is in the same mould as Hoggard - hardworking, underrated but very useful...

He is bowling at 90 miles an hr at the moment. Good man, hard worker. Yes the comparison with Hoggard is not off the mark.

This guy shows so much commitment in the field its beyond belief that a pakistani cricketer can show such enthusiaism. Great player should always be in the team, no doubt he will have a odd day off. I hope he works out his No ball problem.

Very accurate assesment, but Rana probably does have more talent. His commitment today was unbelievable. I dont think I've seen any Pakistani player try so hard. And its all well and good trying hard, but he has skill too. Good fielder, and very underated bowler. Very good with the new ball, and equally skilled with the old.

I have to put my hand up he has proved me wrong. I thought his worth ethic was not enough for him to have a permanent position in the team, but an exception performance by him when the country needed him the most.

Well Played Rana.

If this news of Rana's father is true then it is terrible.

He has played major roles in our last two wins and we could see how much it meant to him by his celebrations.

I think he should go back if he can for the funeral but if he doesn't , then I thonk he's the type of guy that will use this as an inspiration.

I don't think he will want to miss the finals but if he gotta go then he gotta go.

Thats terrible news. He played so well in the last two matches, and if he goes back, it will be a huge loss to the team. Must be terrible for him - he was trying his heart out, and the joy of the victory would be totally overshadowed by the loss of his father. Usually good times follow the bad, but it seems to have been reversed in the last 2 matches

I hope he finds strength in Allah (swt) during this difficult time. Rana is fast becoming my favourite cricketer after Inzy, Afridi and Younis.

The man has determination, perseverance and commitment. The results are now coming and inshallah he will only get better and more consistent.

He could soon become a very useful asset in test matches as well (say it quietly ahead of Gul, Shoaib and may be Shabbir). However he does need to work on his batting a little.

I have not been on net and just realise this sad news about Rana's father. May ALlah grant Rana's father a place in Jannat and bless the departed soul. Ameen! May Allaha lso give Rana and family strength, courage and togetherness in this difficult time. Ameen!

RIP. Condelences to Rana and his family in this moment of tremendous grief! Puts things into perpective ... and as Woolmer puts it ... "there are some things more important than cricket"!

well for us on PP somethings are definitely more
important than cricket...

but for guys like rana naveed, its their 'rozi roti'
and although it won't effect his selection in the future, he know that his absence will severely hamper the team...i know that family always comes first...

but it might not really be feasible for him to go back...and Allah swt has told us to mourn deaths for no more than 3 days

but Inshallah he will get his reward in jannah for missing the funeral of his father

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon.

This is highly tragic news for Pak players, first it was Younis Khan and now Rana Naved. I really feel sorry for two of the most committed players in the team. I wouldn't have cared one bit if Rana had left the team to see his father after this tragedy even if it effects the team performance. But Rana has decided t stay with the team(if it's true) which is a great example of being a team man.................Rana is GREAT!!!!!!

I don't really see first Final in Melbourne going ahead because of heavy showers expected in next few days. Maybe Rana should go back come back before next final or some other bowler should be sent.

Never know. There may be a window in between of a few hours (as it was the case in an earlier game). The drainage system is great..

Yeah there could be a slim chance but it's been raining all day today and it's gonna be same tomorrow so ground will be totally wet even if there is no rain for few hours on Friday.

I wish they transfer the match to Telstra Dome(closed roof stadium) on saturday.

i was more upset about his father than I was happy for the victory really

it's probably one of the darkest hours for him and I pray that Allah gives him the strength to bear such a huge loss

I am getting sick of all the rain issues in Melbourne, I wouldn't mind all games moving to the Dome.
