Should we play Sami in the 2nd test?

In case Asif is fit, would it be Gul to make way for him or Sami?

I think Gul deserves his opportunity more than Sami who we have put up with for a long time now! What do you guys say?

Gul should play ahead of Sami, imo if Asif returns.

Sami did not display great pace or line and length, atleast Gul displayed the latter.

Hell no, I hope Asif gets fit if he doesnt then I would rather have Nazir then Sami infact even MIG would be a better option over Sami.

Hell No, I was a great supporter of Sami but this guy needs a kick in the pants, Time to give somebody else a chance, if you cant imrove after 20 tests and after being dropped and come back with less pace and hostility its time to call it a day.
Hell I would bet even Mohammed Khalil could do bettrr if we invested 4 years in to him.

Sami's pace is very similar to Gul so why not pick a bowler who can actually do something with the ball as oppose to just throwing the ball.

Interesting how only Sami is getting the stick Gul bowled rubbish today, the whole day he was feeding the batsmen with poor deliveries and was quite expensive aswell. He also dealt in wides and no-balls, Sami (IIRC) didnt deliver a single wide throughout the innings! IMO Gul should be replaced by Asif and keep Sami until 3rd test (when Shoaib comes back)

i have to agree with u mate... I think sami didn't bowl that bad he was unlucky... Simon taufel made a huge blunder not giving collingwood out it was a big edge, and sami would have fired up.... Sami is short of confidence i think we should keep sami and asif till shoaibee s back... Gul from wat i say today bowled rubbish short balls outside off JUST CRAP

Yes, I would play Sami in the 2nd test and tell him to bowl with his usual run-up. We're quite weak in the pace department, so it's not much of a choice, but a quicker Sami would be ahead of Gul for me.

Well he's upto 48.19 after this innings. Pretty close to all time great status of 50, another match should do it, IMO.

Have to agree there - Gul was complete rubbish today, yet all everyone talks about is Sami.

But yes, someone better have a long and hard chat with Sami about increasing his pace again. It's about mentality...

At least let this test match finish before we make a judgement about whether he should play in the next. Gul was disapointing today, I expected him to kick on, Sami was a little better, but it is was a poor excuse for an opening bowling attack.

Well we have to called a pace bowler who bowls at 90mph because without that Muhammad Asif would be useless becuase both Gul and Muhammad Asif are similar kind of bowlers so no great deal in playing both we have to have a pacer otherwise just withdrawn from current series.

by the time rana, shoaib and asif will come back this series would be good as over. i think we need to grab the bull by the horns and try and win all these matches before its too late. i think we have an uphill battle but we have to strike back and strike back hard soon or else... else what?? exactly!

Firstly, I think we should wait until the end of this test match before making such judgements. Today, although it may sound extremely repetitive, Sami was quite unlucky with that decision going against him. Further, Gul hasn't been that impressive, bowling far too short.

Bowlers

1) Starting the career in style like Wasim Akram and Ending in style
2) Starting the career mediocre progressingly slowly ending it great
3) Starting the career mediocre continuing mediocrity and ending it mediocre

We all know which category sami falls into!

I think the reaction is a little OTT here. He outperformed Gul in the warm-up matches and to be honest both took just the solitary wicket in the first innings. In the 2nd innings who knows what they might conjure up.

Gul and sami cannot be put on a same plate. Gul is an upcoming bowler. Sami has played alongside pakistan great fast bowlers. He should teach others. But he is in a position where he has to learn from others!

The argument for Sami to avoid a one paced attack has gone because he is not that much quicker than Gul. Therefore, the best bowlers should play. The other argument - Sami can bat - is devoid due to Razzaq.

If Sami can get back his pace then he should play but if he chooses to be the same pace as Gul then well Gul does a much better job of bowling at that pace and moving the ball around.
