VB SERIES FINALS----REALISTIC CHANCES????

WHAT DO U GUYZ THINK?
TO ME SOME OF OUR MEMBERS ON PAKPASSION R GETTING OVER AMBITIOUS.....
CAN WE REALLY WIN THE SERIES?
WELL, THIS IS WHAT I THINK.....

PAKISTAN SHOULD BE HAPPY IF THE WIN 1 OUT OF 3 FINALS
PAKISTAN SHOULD BE SATISFIED EVEN IF THE LOSE 2-0

WINNING THE FINALS---VERY VERY DIFFICULT BUT THIS IS WHY CRICKET IS MORE INTERESTING GAME THAN OTHER...EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!

TP: If one starts with low expectations, then you usually end up with what you asked for !

Just hope that BW and boys have higher hopes than the ones expressed above - you need every inch of self belief and courage ( e.g. Rana ) to make history - thats what Pak need to be planning here, rewriting future history !

I am not one to usually think Pakistan would beat Australia. However, if they play with the same intensity as the past two games they have a good chance of winning the VB series.

Australia are a very good side but beating them in ODI's is not nearly as difficult as in test matches. Especially their bowling in the middle overs (hogg, symonds or even Watson) are a real opening. We came close to beating them in the one day games in England and here is our chance once more especially if we get to chase a 250/270 total.

Having said that I repeat Pakistan will need to play as well as they have been in the past two games. These were high quality games and we have got a winning streak going and the momentum is there.

The trick with Aussies is to apply pressure - when we drop catches or get involved in unnecessary run outs, we relieve that pressure.

People like Gilchrist or Martyn or Clarke, always offer chances ( half chances ) which we need to accept - once that happens, the famed Aussie confidence will drain away in front of our eyes.

And another thing, do not belittle our success against Australia and WI in the last 2 games - the momentum or hunger for success is something sports psychologists spend ages trying to create - we have it already - couple that with some awe inspiring individual performances - you have the perfect formula to take out Australia....

yeh i agree that pakistan will have to work hard...

bcs there r certain weaknesses that the aussies would attack...

1. opening....they now But cannot play the short ball well...
2. Akmal is a bit fishy and so is hameed at no. 3

3. dropped catches...4 against Aus...1 against W.I

But we need to save early wicket...hold on to catches...maintain line and length...attack aussie bowling after 20 over mark.....try to chase...and we have the trophy...

But it's a long list of things that we have to do...let's also hope that clarke doesn't play as an opener!!

IMO Hameed should open and Akmal should move down to the middle order. The rest is fine as it is.

the third one also is kinda iffy cuz rain is forecast

1st one is likely gonna be washed out

I believe we can win 1 out of 3 (if all 3 go ahead), otherwise I'd be fine with 1 out of 2 as well

I think it wud be unrealistic to think we can win all 3 or even 2 (just cuz the aussies know how to win and esp. in games that count). I hope to be proved wrong though

if we are to have a chance in the finals we need better bowlers---> Rao will get rocked by Gilli and Clark.

Aussies

Aussies are the favourites and they do have a much better side but we do have a few match winners who can win it for us.

I am expecting Australia to win but hoping and wishing for a Pakistani victory

How about this - dont panic - work with Rao and Khalil in the nets - both are almost there - if they both improve their performance by say 30-40% and Rana holds his ground, we have a great performance to look forward to ?

i think we have been harsh on both khalil and rao, this hasn't been the easiest tour esp. for khalil to debut on and they have made their presence felt and picked up wickets as well. Both can do something with the bat. It's very tuff to be playing aussies and windies and they have been upto the challenge. They've got a long ways to go still to prove themselves, but I think they have done well on the tour judging by the amount of experience they have.
