What time period would you have liked to live in?

I often have this conversation with friends...usually the typical comes to mind...golden age of islam during the prophet's (pbuh) time, ottoman empire, mughal empire...etc...or maybe the more contemporary '79 Iranian Revolution, or the during the creation of pakistan...

What about something non-islamic such as the ancient egyptians, greeks, romans, or the so called european renaissance?

Interestingly, some claim that now (or the muslim "dark age" as some call it) is the best time for muslims to live in as we have a chance to revive and change things...we have the opportunity that those other empires/time periods did not have because they were already at their peak...something to think about i guess...

I would probably choose the mughal era not so much for its islamic significance (or lack thereof) but for its high culture and its achievements in the arts (poetry, architecture, music etc...)...but i also agree, contrary to popular opinion, that now is a great time for muslims to be in...

Well, I would have definatley liked to have lived in Islam's golden age too. With many muslims making great breakthroughs in many fields.

Something non-islamic, would probably be the Greeks time I guess, for their huge innovation and school of thought.

The 80s, it seems like a real cool decade epitomised by Michael J Fox’s movies like Back To The Future and Teen Wolf.

More reason to love the 80s: the A Team, Knight Rider, Colourful Clothing, Pacman, Boxing was still worth getting up in the middle of the night for, etc

The 18th Century. Though barbaric in many respects, the world was still small, and one could be adventurous with your own too feet. There was no welfare state, but people had hope of fortunes away to the West - the exploration of the Americas, and the hope of Gold beyond the horizon! For me, it would have been ideal for achieving my ambition: to walk the length and breadth of this Planet Earth.

Although lawless and difficult, there were places to be seen that had never been seen before. Things to do that had never been done. Nowadays, it seems as if everything has already happened - like we've reached the pinnacle, and our now heading downwards into the Abyss. Maybe we're heading towards a stage where we'll descend back towards our former states - first breaking down technology in a series of wars, then becoming tribalistic and even more warlike in nature?

I would also have LOVED to be a part of the nobilitas in Ancient Egypt, or as a part of the Incas. They seem so civilised for their age, and though they engaged in questionable practices (burying people alive, slavery, etc.), the heights of their world exceed the heights of ours. I just cannot imagine how a pyramid could be built, with such geometry and astronomy/astrology, that peaks at perfection. And to have one as a tomb? I'd have felt infallible.

Another great experience would be to live when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, when life was dog eat dog. It would be cruel and end in a nasty way, but would be worth it for the hour or so you'd survive. In fact, maybe if you used your intelligence, you could survive for as long as you were nimble.

Of course, I could probably pick a million eras I would like to have been a part of. I'd personally like to experience a bit of everything if I have a chance.

300 years from now.

I really believe we humans are getting smarter and smarter and in a few centuries time, will have gotten over conflicts that plague us and hold us back today.

It's a matter of time before education reaches one and all, and education is the enlightenment the mind needs.

We are lucky we weren't born in the time of Prophet (PBUH).

Why do we make dua the last three aiyats of Sura bakarah?

We would have been tested severely with one slip and wrath awaiting. (Can you fight your own Father, Brother, Son?)

You are chosen by your Master to be in this time for a purpose. You had no hand on this. Appreciate that and fulfill your Master's wish. In it you will be rewarded.

I would choose to live right now - at the absolute pinnacle of human achievement, knowledge, standard of living, and medicine.

(Or maybe in London in the '60s, when the music was really good - The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who - and you had a job for life and more chance of building up a decent pension.)

You are surrounded by people who someone else is not surrounded with and vise-versa. You have access to them whereas, others do not.

Now if you follow the universal understanding of Islam (and that is enough in my opinion), people will be attracted to weather you want it or not. Through you people (muslims, non-muslims) will get the light that they seek. You become a person who continues the work of the prophets (peace be upon all of them). Which is guide people through your actions and good deed. That is how Islam spread in Indonesia, USA and other places right? It is Allah subhanawa tala who changes peoples hearts. But we have make the effort first and then only his blessings will come.

That is why you were sent in this time, in that family. Same case for everyone. Does this make sense? If not, I will try to explain in a different way.
