We lost 6 main bowlers & are still in the VB finals!

No S. Ahmed, Gul, Akhtar, Sami, Malik & Kaneria. Got to give credit to the team. I wonder how the Aussies would have done without McGrath, Gillespie, Kaspro, Lee, etc.

Our bowlers arent in thew same league as the Aussie guys!

Also, Gul/Shabir are long term so you cannot include them in your list and Malik was barred from balling during the test series, so PCB had ample time to call up replacements.

I would say we made the VB Finals DESPITE having bowlers like Rao Iftikhar!!!

In the India Aus test series in Aus, the aussies were without the sevices of Mcgra, Warna and Gillespie (for most of the series) and they almost lost the series. So credit should be given to PAk; they have reached the finals with a un-tested bowling line-up

Took me a while to dig that pic out, but I did!

My greatest ever moment in cricket meeting Sir Viv!

Still have the autographed bat to this day.

yes...tremedous. Well done Pakistan!

I know the anti woolmer brigade will hate this thread but like it or not, it is the truth. Despite horrendous injury problems, we were able to beat Australia and get to the final of the Vb series (before the series started they were all predicting an Aus vs WI final). Credit must be given to the Pakistan team and management.

Lets keep things in perspective:

There's a huge difference between beating a fullstrength Australia in the finals, and beating them in a dead rubber.

In reality, we were only competing against a poor Windies lineup.

missing our two strike bowlers: Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammed Sami (take Pathan and Nehra out of India and who will get the wickets? same with every team.....you take their two first choice strike bowlers out they will always struggle)

Also missing the two obvious replacements to long term injuries so we are left with promising but raw youngsters with no experience at this level whatsoever.

Despite these problems we have beaten Australia (dead rubber or no dead rubber.....we beat australia) once, given them a reasonable fight once and tonked the windies twice. Well done Pakistan! I salute you!

Amjid, you forgetting about how well Akhtar bowled against India and the Windies in the ICCKO?

And against Australia in the Netherlands, in the Asia Cup and against India at home?

amjid- I don't think he has been too bad to be honest.

He bowled well in the ICCCT game against India....think we would have been chasing a bit more than 200 had it not been for him.

akthar to me has never really shone as an odi bowler, he always did well when he had others 2 support him him... since turn off 2000 hes been very poor in performance most off the time.

i wudnt pick akthar agen for odis... shud just be looked @ for tests!
