next Brian Lara Cricket game

When is it out? I have heard about some of the proposed ideas and they sound great, but I haven't heard anything about a release date yet.

And, anyone know if this one will have more licences? I am getting a bit sick of scoring centuries with S.Tandelki, A.Flantiff and K.Patterson...you can change the names, but it still feels wrong. Not to mention they all look nothing like their real selves.

As far as I know it'll have the proper names for the 2006 ICCCT and 2007 ICCWC but it'll still have the fake names for the test teams.

Not that that's a problem if you play the PC version...

so true.

I would love to see the Wii's controller utilised for the next brian lara cricket game, although it would probably be a safety hazard swinging the thing around the house!

Why not. They utilise the controls for Wii Baseball. It would be awesome if they made it to take use of the Wii.

Cricket on Wii would be a dream come true, honest to God! Whippy, EA Cricket is much better than Brian Lara cricket anyway. So look into EA instead of codemasters.

Well i've seen a few screenshots and it looks the same as 07. All i can notice is that all the players have caps on rather than 1 of them.

same old, same old thing. There will never be a decent cricket game like Lara on the ps1. That was a quality game.

Is it EA Cricket or Brian Lara cricket that will make better use of the analogue sticks this time round? Sounded like an interesting control method when i read about it a few weeks ago.

EA Cricket it is:

Quote:
Called "Century Stick", the new control system involves using the left analogue stick to select a front of back-foot stroke, while the right stick allows you to line up shot timing and direction. Power is determined by how far the stick is moved, while the face-buttons you press determine the loft of a shot or whether you advance down the track and, obviously, the real-life batsman's inherent skill plays a part in whether he sees success with the shot.

I dont like EA cricket. It looks great and has all the licences, but not much more than that - style over substance, like a lot of EA's games. Brian Lara is to EA Cricket as Pro Evo is to Fifa - not as pretty but miles better.

That would be a good analogy if it wasn't for the fact that the latest version of Brian Lara cricket was rubbish.

EA Cricket was a mediocre, bug-filled experience that led me to query whether they had bothered to employ any testers at all.

On the other hand Brian Lara Cricket made me wonder if anybody involved in the developing of the game had ever seen a game of cricket in their life.

Their two complete extremes, EA and Brian Lara.

In Brian Lara, the gameplay is too fake. You can smash a bowler for SIX over long leg when the ball is a metre outside offstump and vice versa. But in EA, you always get out if you go for a slog.

IMO, Cricket 2005 is for the hardcore cricket fan, Brian Lara is just for a regular cricket fan.

Recently purchased Tiger Woods 07 and it's superb. The attention to detail is amazing. If only they could do it in the Cricket games......
