Why are we so poor vs SA??

Our record vs them is quite pathetic!

Yes the overall record is indeed poor, I remember after losing to them (unluckily) in the 92 WC we then defeated them at least 6 times on the trot in between 1993-94.

We then had a run of defeats which ran in to double figures till we beat them in 2000 in Sharjah.

Because No Pakistani other than Razzak seem to have the technique to play against pace and bounce.

However Afridi averaged over 40 in South Africa's domestic league

Apart from Pakistanis being poor against pace and bounce, I think the real reason is our unprofessionalism and very amateur/school boy style of play with South Africa exploit fuly as they are 100% opposite to us. South Africa are professional and organised.

truly that was the one thing i admired most about s/a.

their professionalism. no real big names in batting or bowling, but they most times always function as a unit.
there were no flaws in their fielding.......and this is a big difference when playing a team operating like school boys

Well for starters, South Africa actually has pitches that are bouncy and also seam a little at home. So it's easy to adjust for them on flat wickets. With Pakistan, the pitches are pretty much flat at home and it's difficult to adjust on pitches with bounce and/or seam movement. Same with Australia.

Because they have generally had quality pace bowlers.

I have never understood why some think Razzaq is a good player of pace.

Maybe they mean it in relative terms, seeing how Razzaq plays spin bowling.
