One of weakest pakistan top orders ever
Looking at pakistans top 6 today i have to say its one of the worst ive seen in 20 years of watching pakistan play.
Farhat, hafeez, afridi, s malik, F iqbal and yasir hameed. It doesnt fill you with any confidence and nor can you look at one player in that side and say we can depend on this batsmen or this batsmen... I was going to say thank god we aint playing Australia because we would struggle, then again when dwayne smiths medium pace is taking wickets it says it all! |

5 Openers in the team and most of them not good openers batting in together. NOn of them played teh game according to conditions. Hameed played well but did lookk iffy at times and again.

I was waiting for Amjid to create this thread so I could explain something very simple to him.
If any team in the world loses their top 3 batsman, they will struggle. It doesn't matter if it is Australia, even. Take Ponting and Hussey out, and Australia will struggle. Take Dravid, Sachin, and Sehwag out and India will struggle. Take Lara, Sarwan, Chanderpaul out and Windies will struggle and so on. Obviously, the batting lineup will be weak if we are without Inzamam, Younis, and Yousuf. |

this is by no means a weak batting order
pakistan simply messed it up by getting the order of the players wrong should have been like this hafeez farhat hameed iqbal malik razzaq afridi akmal rana sami rao

First of all pakistan were missing two world class odi batsmen, Younis khan
is an average odi player at best. Secondly why didnt the selectors use logic? Replace to middle order batsmen with two middle batsmen who were in form and had some good odi credentials. Instead we get tried and tested failure in afridi (recalled on basis of one good game with bat, if this is recall criteria then pakistans selections is pretty shameful) also what ODI credentials has F iqbal shown? None why not give shahid yousuf ago or even fawad alam whose performed for a while now and is seen as an odi specalist batsmen. picking half baked tin pot batsmen and bits pieces players to make up a top 6 is laughable. Add to that farhat/hafeez who are going backwards in performance it really sums it up!! |

I think there are two problems here.
There's no respect for the batting order. Batsmen get moved around, this affects their fluency as the batting demands of openers, middle order and late order batsmen are different. Even worse is this continual recycling of players with no chance given to new comers to break into the team. It seems to be all about the contacts you make once you're in the magic circle. |

Asalaam alikum Wr Wb Brothers;
From the moment i checked the scorecard to see how much pakistan has scored i ruled out our chances to win. However since pakistan team has been flying high they should have been far more competitive. I am not watching this match nor i have been following it since early morning but i can tell following " cricinfo.com" and "Pakpassion.net" that it truly has been dismal performance from pakistan. Totally unprofessional and spineless show from the boys in green. As i speak west indies have coasted to a hammering, battering and handsome victory by seven wickets finishing on 212/3. CONGRATULATIONS to west indies for a fine performance allround . Nearly throughout their tour in pakistan they have received nothing but hammering in tests and one dayers. "At last a WIN !"captain lara must be saying to himself with a huge relief. They thorougly deserved to win this match with the hardwork they put in. Bowlers Bradshaw, powell, smith and other supporting bowlers kept it tight and batsmen chanderpaul and samuels made sure they send pak bowlers, fielders and selection management to leather hunt !. Well played west indies , you now what i will be watching the highlights at " khanprod.com" to see west indies team's fine performance allround and pakistan team's mistakes allround !Guys i have just checked the final scorecard, lara finishes off the match with a SIX of the mediocre iftikhar anjum !!! Are we surprised ?! ohhh noooooo sir we are not !. 56 runs from 5.5 overs at 9.60 is hardly encouraging from anjum today. Rana, sami, hafeez and malik the only bowlers to bowl decently. Look i can understand that pakistan were missing skipper inzamam due to inury, yousaf due to family commitment and younis due to family commitment as well but what about umar gul ?. Does anyone know why he was not playing ? I really did'nt understand gul's absence, was he not playing due to injury or due to rest to give younger players opportunities in strengthening bench strength as part of preparation for future. ( he's been playing non stop since tour of england) I might be wrong, i have only logged onto internet 1 hour ago, have'nt been following the match on cricinfo and pakpassion since ball number one since early morning. But guys honestly i don't think iftikhar anjum deserves a place in the side. Why do pakistan cricket loves to return to traditional blunders ?? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ???????? PLEASE TELL ME WHY EVERYONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ??????? . When the selection management were replacing inzamam,yousaf,gul and rehman with hameed,fiasal,sami and afridi why were they not utilised properly ?. Look inzamam and yousaf had to step aside due to genuine reasons but why was rehman and gul dropped ?. For most part of his career afridi has been a waste at opening position it was only under woolmer's tenure to date that afridi has renovated, revitalised in lengthening his career with consistent success at position number 6/7. Yes lately he's been out of form at 6/7 in the last two series perhaps. But he should have played at number 6 rather than open, shoaib malik under woolmer's tenure is a another player who has been nurtured well and flourished at number 3 before younis khan made a return in the one day side. If everyone remembers shoaib malik averaged something like 40-45 in some 25-30 games he played since the start of woolmer's tenure until younis khan made a return entry. Since younis khan has revived his career and comeback permanently in the side the number 3 postion is his castle in both tests and one dayers. Which meant shoaib malik and to move down the order at 5/6. In the absence of younis khan today shoaib malik should atleast have occupied position number 4 cause pakistan played with three openers today farhat,hafeez and hameed. What was hafeez doing at number four ? Pakistan selection management can sometime ruin a player's career with it's utmost stupidity. Number six is a position for master blasters like afridi or razzak not for othordox batsman like fiasal iqbal whose job is to collect 1s, 2s, and odd boundary. Fiasal iqbal should have come at number 5. Iftikhar anjum should'nt have played instead left arm spinner rehman should have been retained. Mind boggling, mind blowing selections of some players and positions at which many played at !!! Therefore pakistan team's selected playing eleven should have been played at the following positions; 1.Farhat 2. Hafeez 3. Hameed 4. Malik 5. Fiasal 6. Afridi 7. Razzak 8. Akmal 9. Rana 10. Sami ( Would have choosen gul) 11. iftkhar ( Would have choosen rehman) I can't comment on adbul razzak's captaincy as i have'nt followed the whole match. Let's hear you brothers comments on razzak's capntaincy.

Completely agree !. No respect for positions at all, pakistan selection management shot themselves in the foot today and hence we have lost the match deservedly.

Why was Hafeez batted at 4, when he and Farhat had compiled 74 for the opening wicket in the last game? Why was Afridi made to open, when he expressed a desire to bat the middle order? Why did we open with Afridi when he had three openers in the side? Why were middle order batsmen replaced with allrounders and openers? Questions, questions...

The batting order was random, Hafeez should have opened and Iqbal come in at 4. But i would have played Bazid Khan and Hasan Raza as we had too many openers and we all know that Pakistani openers are rubbish.

we played with 5 potential openers last match. Afridi, Farhat, Hameed, Hafeez and Akmal. long line for top order there except Akmal didn't come at top be he could have to strengthen it
