OT: Pakistan deteriorating as a country to live in
Just a summary of a report released about life in Pakistan today. (Source: The Jang, 03 Feb 2005)
- there were over 1000 Honour Killings of women/girls in 2004 reported (imagine how many are unreported) - over 1000 suicides - 823 reported incidences of CHILD ABUSE but the real figure is close to 10,000! - over 33,000 unemployed graduates roaming the streets - A jail population of 85,000 (jail capacity is 35,000) - Sectarian violence on the increase Very sad state of affairs. But then Gen Musharaf is a busy man

YOU are kidding me right, 1000 for a poulation of 160 million. Do you know how many rapes, killing and chikld abuse cases happen in UK and US and India per year. This is a very low rate. Any case of abuse is one too many but lets compare us to other nations, on incidence per head Yes we are poor and should compare our GDP per capita to the Us and UK but lets be fair and compare our crime stats to these so called Advanced countries.
PS we have never had pogroms like in India, Russia or Germany. |

You are right- a 1000 is a pin head in relation to a population of 150 million. However these are grossly underestimated figures. Honour killings and rapes must be in the tens of thousands catagory.
