Can 30 man preliminary squad for WC changed?

I have heard both ways but what is the right answers.

If not then playing those that are not in the 30 men sqaud in rest of the 4 ODI will be a BIG crime. Right now SA series does not matter as much as providing opportunities to those 30 players so we can select the most in form team for the WC.

It can only be reduced to 15 men. And after that, the only way it can be changed is through an injury to someone (as far as I know).

OK I understand but can you select from outside the preliminary 30?
Either when you select the final 15 man squad or later if one of the 15 man squad gets injured?

If you are stuck with the 30 inital players then how every much we want Kineria or Azhar Mehmood in the team they should not be tried right now.

Funny how things change sooo fast. Before this test series, a lot of people were laughing at Bob Woolmer for expecting Azhar Mahmood to be part of the test series. Now everyone is saying he should be back in the squad.

After the first test, everyone was saying Kaneria should be sent to the moon, and now everyone wants him not only in the test team but also in the ODI team.

Players go through dips and peaks. You gotta take the good with the bad...

that is correct.
20-40 player squad mean nothing to ICC or the tournament. It is just used to pick the 15 who will be in the squad for WC

Yes you can select from outside the 30. The only reason the 30 is picked is so that they can be part of the training group so that they're not pulled in "cold".

Of course, picking from outside a squad of 30 that was supposed to be your best 30 shows pretty poor judgment in the first place. You could just about make a first XI, second XI and 3rd XI from 30 players. If you have to pick outside that then you're a pretty ordinary team of selectors, and it would not inspire confidence in your abilities.
