6.2 megabits per second isn't the actual speed but rather how fast I can communicate with other web servers on the internet basically send a request to view a certain web page etc. How fast that web page loads is the storage speed or how fast I can really download stuff like view a page full of pictures etc.

Cable internet is much faster than dsl so people who use cable internet tend to have high speeds depending on the area they live in...
