Glad I went to Bed...

I'm in the UAE and the match timings here are 6.30pm till around 2am.

After the Windies innings I went to bed even though I was thinking about the match most of the night.

Anyway, got up this morning about one hour ago and checked the internet. Very disappointed, but hey you know what, I am going to change my outlook now about the team - I was the eternal optimist when most of my friends told me the team will let you down.

So now, from being an optimist I will expect the worse from MY team - at least that way it may not hurt so much.

So many things I want to write about this match:

1) this is not a test match, so why such a long tail?? In ODI batting should go till at least number 8 or 9.

2) Rana - less said the better (even though this was one of his better bowling performances, he only had one very poor over for 16 and even bowled a maiden!). But I'm fed up with him now and just want him as far away from the team as possible - somebody spike his drink.

3) I think the quicker Afridi comes back, the quicker we can drop Kaneria.

4) Opening batsmen?? Well, when hasn't this been a problem for Team Pak. We just dont have any other batsmen in the squad, we are loaded with bowlers and bowling all-rounders. The squad needed one more batsman.

5) What was YK trying to do - this guy needs to be taught how to duck a short ball

6) Inzi again not taking the responsibility of coming in earlier.

7) Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.....aaaaarrrrrgggghhhh

8) Ok, calm down. Only one match gone.

BUT THIS WAS THE WORST MATCH TO LOSE COS NOW TEAM PAK TAKE NIL POINTS TO THE SUPER 8'S WHERE WE NOW HAVE TO WIN AT LEAST 4 MATCHES OUT OF 6.

So, really now I don't expect anything from Team Pak, only the worst.

PS the quicker Inzi retires the better. Great batsman, catcher, runner, runner outer, poor captain (except he unites the team rather well).

My whole strategy to win this world cup would have been to beat the Windies, who IMO are one of the weaker teams.

just treat it as a game, don't take it personally, have fun and you will do a lot better. If Pakistan is out first round it will make a few people sad but they will still be watching the super 8s, semi finals and finals because it is a game that people like to watch and enjoy

calm down shoaib we still have chance in the world cup

as there will be three more teams that will take nil points to super 8's and i think Inzi should quickly learn from his mistakes which are as following

1..Yuonis khan should come at number six and Yousuf and Inzi should come at 3,4

2..Malik should be given chance as an opener as he had done well there too and who knows he is a type of a player that scores big and can rotate the strike which we struggle to do today

3..Pakistan should play Azhar in place on RANA and Sami in place on Kaneria as he is too in experience and phetatic fileding today

4..Pakistan should not get too dishearted as we still have chances to win this world cup if our top order fires

i still believes in Inzimam and team

Very true - its only a game, BUT WHY DOES IT FEEL LIKE MORE THAN JUST A GAME??

Its cos its the world cup - it comes round every 4 years, and after the 2003 performance I dont think we can have another repeat in 2007.

MY ONE SAVING GRACE IS THAT...THE TEAMS THAT DO WELL IN THESE TOURNIES ARE THE ONES THAT START OFF SLOWLY AND GRADUALLY BUILD MOMENTUM AND THEN PEAK AT THE RIGHT TIME. I SURE HOPE THAT PAK DO THAT.

Yay, looks like the wrist-slitting brigade has arrived...Pakistan loose one match and it seems they have lost the whole bloody WC ! Never knew pakistani fans were so fickle...Granted they were outplayed by West Indies but to see anti-pakistani threads about kicking everyone in the team, the captain, and the coach is truly sickening...

I'm sick and tired of these unwarranted and idiotic threads about the Pakistani team...Yes the team should be criticized for how they played, but they should learn from their mistakes and never let this happen again....

But, most of the fans we see here on pp just want the team to fail so miserably so that they can come out with their weekly idiotic threads about the players, the coach, the pcb, etc etc, and then surreptitiously pat themselves on the back for making those moronic threads....

While we all expected a victory, most non-Pakistanis wouldnt quite think so. Our odds for WC success is considerably worse than the Windies

Nope! what I meant to say was that there should have been controlled bowling in the end and after the two wickets' fall, I was still hoping that Yousuf and Inzi would pull it off for us.

After going bed and having a good sleep iit has just hit me as to how well the Windies played! The likes of Powell, Collymore and Taylor bowled at such a perfect line that scoring was extremely difficult and from the batting POV Samules was magnificent and scored off some very decent balls.

watched the entire match and had still thought we had a chance throughout even when Malik was batting with Rana but at the end cricket is a game and one team wins and another loses. credit to west indies, they outplayed us.
