England's first match at Wembley v Brazil
Wembley will host England-Brazil - BBC
England will play Brazil in their first match at the new Wembley Stadium on Friday, 1 July, it has been announced. The match - England's first at Wembley for seven years - will provide a test for the side ahead of their Euro 2008 qualifier in Estonia five days later. FA chief executive Brian Barwick said: "We're delighted to announce that Brazil will be the first team to take on England at the new Wembley. "It's a fantastic match to mark the end of seven years on the road." He added: "The new stadium is a fantastic football arena and I'm confident there will be many new memories created there for England fans over the coming years." England's last match at Wembley was the 1-0 World Cup qualifying defeat to Germany in October 2000. But, following an England under-21 match against Italy last month, played in front of a 55,700 crowd, Wembley has been cleared to host matches again. During Wembley's £757m reconstruction, England have played at various club grounds around the country. --------------------------------- Well done to the FA for getting such a big game for England's first match at the new ground. |

I'm hoping to go to that if I can into the public ballot after the Eng. fanclub members have bought theirs.
I envisage a sell out in an hour though...

Some 10 years later they have finally finished Wembley ... what a disaster that project ended up being. Oh well it looks like a great stadium though.
