Rumour that Roger Harper and Jimmy Adams have applied!!!

I just read on cricinfo that among other candidates Roger Harper and Jimmy Adams have also applied for the vacant position as the coach of Team-Pakistan.

Here is the link:
http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/pakis...ry/296265.html

Personally the only West Indian I would love to have in the pak setup is Vivian Richards as a batting coach. I dont think we need a West Indian bowling coach cos I think that Wasim Akram would be a better choice.

Does anyone have any opinion on this.
With best regards
Sheikhys

Both good cricketers. Harper might improve our fielding whereas we need Adams' bloody mindedness. Saw Adams commentating on sky during the eng vs wi series and he seems to talk sense.

I remember Jimmy Adams as a captain that struggled with the job and lacking the tactical nouse on the field.

As a commentator, I see no difference - usually, commentators talk a good game - he fails to even do that.

I dont want Jimmy Adams anywhere near the Pak set up. I think too many applicants want to milk the PCB dry!

I do agree with you to some extent. The only thing that puts any doubts in my mind is that West Indies cricket culture is not known for its discipline, therefore i doubt if they can bring discipline to Team-Pakistan.

a West Indian coach would be pretty decent, as Wesr Indians kind of have the same mentality to us Pakistanis

Harper was a fantastic fielder in his day, arguably the best around in the 80's but he's already been coach of his national side and their fielding performances during that period were as shoddy as ever.

As for Adams I don't actually have a problem with his commentating, seems quite good to me, but can't bring myself to forgive him for Antigua 2000, though it was really the fault of that idiot Doctrove, but every time I'd see him it'd bring back those memories!

Jimmy adams? No thanks! he would be teaching out batsmen to play spin with their Pads!

Harper was a good player but i doubt his coaching credentials.

I guess most B list candidates are applying for pakistani coaching job.

I would appoint Graham Gooch

England made a big mistake appointing Peter Moores and overlooking essex coach Goochie.

Nah PlanetP. Harper was an average cricketer and an even more average coach. He hasnt exactly set the world alight with his stint in Kenya.

What makes jimmy adam and roger harper so special. They arent even that highly regarded. If we are going to get a mediocre coach from overseas then kiss all hope of success good bye.

"India will probably be able to offer him more money but also probably twice the stress as in Pakistan."

Which idiot official said that??? Whilst I agree the Indian job includes stress, its also true that nothing but nothing can top the circus that has been Pakistani cricket over the last year.

The way I look at it is that if I were a world class coach, why would I apply to Pakistan rather than India which is not only less stressful but better paid!
