Mansoor Amjad Latest

The guys Bowling Action is perfectly fine.

Just like it was in the Under-19 WC.

Just thought I'd tell you that.

How is his finger injury that has prevented him from bowling?

Looks fine to me.

His batting surprised me. The guy looked a proper batsmen. Unfortunately got himself run out today. He can become a Legspinner version of Shoaib Malik with time.

Seriously.

That's exactly what Wasim Bari said. He sees Mansoor Amjad as a batting talent more than a bowling talent.

Yeah, but it shouldnt give the impression that his bowling is weak.

The guy is more than good enough to replace Afridi in the future.

That doesnt mean a thing, Malik used to bat at the bottom of the order so did Razzaq when he first came in.

Lets hope so, people dismiss Afridi's contribution with the ball far too easily

By future I mean when he retires.

We have a replacement which is good news.

You cant really replace Afridi, he doesnt fit into the normal player types.

Sure we can get a good fielder who is an excellent bowler but we'll never have another guy like Afridi.

Someone who's a specialist spinner, great fielder and quite often an explosive match winning batsman.

However Mansoor could 'potentially' replace Afridi's bowling contribution but its hard to get spinners who can effectively bowl within the fielding restrictions and who can also come on and calm things down when the opposition is racing along at an astronomical run rate. That takes character, lets hope Mansoor has it.

Why should we wait till Afridi retires?
Why can't we 'rest' A Razzaq and give Mansoor a chance in the ODIs vs SA?

Aint gonna happen knowing our selectors.

Not to forget Afridi has a Demi God status in among Pakistan fans. A guy who performs once in a blue moon just like Razzaq.

Its no wonder we lose to Ireland one day and beat Australia on another.

What we need is consistency and we aint gonna get it with these guys.

All rounders who cant be replaced Yeah Right!

Seen highlights and was impress with his batting. It has improved a lot form U19 days. BOwling is not the same as it was in U19 but with time i'm sure he will get back to his bowling best. The six was awsome.

Bowling action is the same though.

The run up is a little shorter from what I saw.

Still he took 2 wickets today. Was on a hat trick.

I'm talking about the intensity and the rip he was getting back then was awsoem to watch. How can any one forget that googly in the final against india. It was like an off break.

He is still recovering from a finger injury according to Wasim Bari.

That should explain it.

watched the game on skysports - battingwise - he appears to have a good eye but had a glaring technique fault - almost playing around himself so that bat was coming down from 1st slip to mid on...this can be corrected...but if not then he'll pay the price at the highest level...

fielding was absolutely and utterly ridiculous - embarrasing

I watched a bit of Mansoor in action a couple of days ago for Leicestershire versus Kent.

A couple of initial observations - he's certainly grown into a tall lad (together ear ring).

A clean hitter of the ball, powerful too. Bowling still looks as though it needs some work to it, but he bowled a fine flipper to Van Jaarsveld to get rid of him first ball.

Afridi's attitude on the field is good but A Razzaq on the other hand looks so 'tired' and it seems that he is in need for a break from the game.

I saw a bit of Mansoor's fielding in that Kent game. Really needs to improve in that aspect if he is going to break into the side

He's got plenty of time to develop. This county season should do him a world of good. I'd like to see him play a couple more seasons in county, a season at home, and if he's continued to show development then bring him into the team. That would still only make him 22-23! Patience is the key for Mansoor...

Replacing him with Razzaq is the ideal idea, but no one is ever gonna do it.

The problem is Sheikh that he's not been a regular for Leicestershire. He's missed quite a few matches through him not being selected.

Mansoor was also ommiited from the Leicester squad for each of the Twenty/20 matches.

Don't mind the 20-20 snub as that's a development that's not imperative to his growth as a cricketer.

If Im not mistaken, Leics described the Amjad signing as an investment. Hence they're willing to bide their time and allow him to develop at his own pace. He's already shown signs of improvement, as evidenced by his maiden county century, (which led to their only first-class win of the season) so I imagine he must be pushing for a more regular berth in the team.

Again, he's only 19 and a couple of more seasons at county level will see him develop further as a player and a person. We must be patient and allow him to grow. Once he puts in solid, consistent performances, then he will select himself. Theres plenty of time for that...
