Bucknor, Bowden & Dar - 'Dropped' for the 20-20 World Cup?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/6917100.stm

World Twenty20 officials revealed

The nine umpires and three match referees for the ICC World Twenty20 this winter have been announced.

The list does not include the five officials involved in April's shambolic World Cup final, including Aleem Dar, Steve Bucknor and Billy Bowden.

The three referees, all from the ICC elite panel, are headed by ex-England opening batsman Chris Broad alongside Ranjan Madugalle and Mike Procter.

The nine umpires include five officials from the Elite Panel and four others.

Australians Daryl Harper and Simon Taufel, England's Mark Benson, Billy Doctrove of the West Indies, and Asad Rauf from Pakistan are from the panel, with Steve Davis of Australia, South African Ian Howell, England's Nigel Llong and Tony Hill from New Zealand making up the nine.

The tournament takes place from 11-24 September in South Africa, with match appointments for the opening stage of the tournament to be made and announced in due course.

Why wouldnt they go into a prestigious event with arguably the best unpires?

Are they being 'punished' for thye farce at the end of the farcical World Cup in the Windies?

Are they saying that it was actually Aleem Dar's fault, as Taufel is in the list.

Taufel didnt have anything to do with that shambles in the final though. Still, a nice way to shoot themselves in the foot by the ICC

Damn this means, Aussie's chances of winning the 20/20 has been reduced by a good 40 percent .

this news is very old, some months in fact - yes those who officiated are being "rested" or punished for their world cup final performance.

i think its the right move by ICC. the umpires and officials also need to be punished, not just the players. I bet if this was the real WC, they would not have been banned. 20 20 WC does not require the best umpires anyway. thats y the suspension isnt that big of a deal
