18 years of British Occupation of Ireland comes to an end...
British forces have formally ended their mission in Ireland.
What started as a mission to help the Police became a full fledged occupation of the provinces. After losing close to 700 soldiers, the British learnt the lesson that Bush and Co could also learn today - in the end, it was political dialogue and a willingness to talk to each other accross a table that solved the issue! On a related note, If Muslims feel under threat in the UK today due to terrorism etc, spare a thought for the Irish living in London etc - with IRAs bombing campaign at its peak - they must have felt the heat like we do today !
