I am surprized no one has created a thread on this event.

I hope this year it is someone else than Federer. I hope he don't even reach the semis. By now should know whom I am rooting for.

Rooting for Ana. Had a great win in LA 2 weeks ago and has breezed through her first 2 matches without playing her best tennis. She has a tough draw ahead of her though.

But I don't like anyone else. The ones I liked are retired or knocked out. I was hoping Gimolstab would get ahead but probably lost yesterday to Roddick. Well one fun and entertaining player to watch is out. I have to watch a bit and see who are more entertaing players.

So Go Federer win 3 slams twice in a row

Yeah i watched the last part of the game- great tennis from both players! Some of those returns from Blake were the hardest returns of serve that i have EVER seen.

Sad to see Nadal lose. His body was definitely not right but more importantly Ferrer played a lot better tennis.

It's quite amazing because in the last round Ferrer had played a grueling 5 seter against Nalbandian and last night he played a tough 4 seter yet after the match it looked as if he was fresh enough to play another match on the same night.

I've been looking forward to this Rodick v Federer match since it was set and the first set was awesome SO....I'm going to keep a running log of my thoughts through the match. I don't care if no one out there is reading, I just want to vent.

Currently: 1-1 in the 2nd set. Federer won the first in tie break.

The first set loss doesn't seem to have affected Rodick. He had no problem holding serve for his first two service game. 2-1 now....Roger serving in the 4th game.

It's just such a treat to watch Federer play. Especially against competition which actually tests him. His manner of playing tennis is so superb. He makes so few unforced errors and works the rallies into his favour.

Just a note about the differences in body language between the two players. Roddick wear his hard on his sleeve and shows emotion....up or down. On the other hand, Federer barely ever looks pumped put or dejected. He just stays in that neutral zone.

And with that he takes 3 straight points after the break point and saves serve.

Federer 7 4
Roddick 6 4

Can't help but notice how much more energy Roddick seems to be expending. Not that he is. Just that it looks like that. He throws himself around, he's grunting, he yelling after points.

Just as a say that, he brings up two HUGE serves to win his game. 142 MPH.

Federer 7 5*
Roddick 6 6

A testament to Federer's serve being great without huge velocity: He just made a 2nd serve ace.

No trouble holding serves....we're going to another tie-break.

Observation: Andy seems to be moving early while recieving serves. It's burned him several times with Roger spotting it and serving into the open court but he keeps taking the risk.

Federer 7 6|3
Roddick 6 6|1

Roddick needs to make a move if he wants this set. And now.

But it doesn't work out. Federer pulls it out. He's up 5-3 now....

You gotta feel for Roddick here. He's been on top of his game. His stats in this match are AWESOME. He didn't get broken till just now. But he's still getting beated....and almost beaten easily. That's gotta be a sinking feeling. To be playing your best and it not being enough.....

And that it. Roger Federer demonstrates how dominant he is right now. Andy Roddick played amazingly but he had no chance. This wasn't a straight sets match....it wasn't a blow-out...but I guess it's how Federer operates.

It was ok.

The sad fact(or may be not) is that Federer is about 3 times as talented as Roddick. This is the absolute best that Roddick can play and he still lost in straight sets.

p.s I always want to root for Roddick when he faces Federer but only after 3 or 4 games i end up falling in love with Federer's game

The gap is so huge. There were two points in the match where I actually burst out laughing:

1. A long rally where Roddick (loud as ever) was grunting like crazy, throwing himself around, and generally hitting good shots while the crowd was loving his shots. But every single time Federer calmly got to the ball with plenty of time and quitely played perfectly placed shots. Eventually Roddick came in and Federer played a passing shot. Roddick had this look on his face saying "What else am I supposed to do."

2. This was when I actually burst out laughing. It was in the 1st set tie break and it was set point for Federer. Roddick had just won the last point and he let out a huge scream while holding up one finger with determination (to signify that he needed one more point to tie it up). The crowd ate it out like cake. Federer had to wait a good 20 seconds or so for the crowd to stop cheering. When they quited down, he promptly delivered an unplayable ace and shut everyone up. Then walked off the court like it was nothing.

Yeah at that point i was thinking to myself as to how frustrating it must be for Roddick..it was as if Fed was saying "ok Andy that's all you have got" but to ARod's credit he played equally well in the 2nd set and didn't look too frustrated(relatively speaking).

p.s Pete Sampras will perhaps always remain as my favorite player but at the same time i also hope that this guy breaks each and every record in the sport.

Davydenko is a guy who firmly believes that he canNOT beat Federer. So even if Fed plays the worst match of his life he would still win.

yeah I know but maybe this time Davydenko can do a miracle, he needs to hold his nerve on the big points unlike at Rolland Garros when he lost in straight sets after leading in all of them....

Federer is obviously the clear favorite but Davydenko is playing really, really well so it should be a good contest...

Federer won that match without breaking a sweat.

On to Djokovic. This guy actually beat Federer early this summer to win the Rogers' Cup in Canada. What are the chances we'll get a close match?

I think Djokovic was the only one who could challenge Federer. can be a good final probably 4 setter. I think the first??? grand slam final for Bjokovic so it depends on him he doesn't get nervous. He knows he can beat Federer but this is a 5 setter so a little different

Final's about to start. Once CBS decided to stop being retarded and finish NFL POST-GAME.

That's right folks, the official US Open carrier in the US would rather show a POST GAME show rather than the US Open Final.

Novak Chokovic gifts Federer the 1st set. Novak had 5 chances to win the set yet failed each time.

I guess Roger will be too tough for Novak Chokovic to beat, and Novak Chokovic is hjelping him by ssome unforced errors

We're on serve so far in the 3rd set. But I don't see why Federer won't pull this set out too. Should be an easy win from here.

Great victory for Federer, he wasn't at his best, but still pulled it off when it mattered. Djokovic had his chances and he kind of bottled it.
