Shoaib Malik apology on Headlines Today

I get Headlines Today on Dish network here in the US and Shoaib Malik was just on the phone with the news anchor and apologized for his "muslims of the world" remark and said that he didn't mean for it to come out the way that it did. The anchor brought up the fact that there were two muslims on the indian team as well and Shoaib acknowledged that fact and congratulated the indian team.

There was some discussion on twenty20 cricket and also about Misbah. Shoaib said that Misbah was crying following the game and he did not wish to disturb him but he did go up to him and say that he was responsible for making a match of it and he should not be dissapointed. He also mentioned that Gen. Mushy sent a message saying that one of the teams had to win and he was proud that pakistan fought hard.

I didn't catch everything that was said but just recollecting from whatever I heard but he was on the phone for a good 10 minutes.

can we also stop being so fidgety about everything? hate the fact that everybody is so sensitive to public statements these days.

Mushy was just supporting the boys, as a Pakistani and head of state. Whats wrong about that, if they had won then they would have ended up at his place for diner or something. Dont know why people make so much of Mushy these days.

If Shoaib felt the need to clarify his remark, and actually did so, then fair play to him.

If he felt the need to apologise, then its a further indication of how low our self-esteem and self-respect has dropped. He said nothing for which he needs to apologise. Muslims support other Muslims, irrespective of national boundaries. Not all Muslims - but a sizeable proportion (by any yardstick). Thanking them for their support is just simple gratitude, and a nice display in the depths of defeat.

This is not a pop at Shoaib, but a general point over how afraid we seem to be in expressing ourselves, no matter how innocently, which might offend our non-Muslim masters. He knows, and we SHOULD know, that what he originally said was not an attempted insult to anyone else.

I think so you guys need to take a chill pill, dude he said it wrong he knows it and we all know this thing. I think so he did the right move by clearifying his statement.

i wasnt really bothered in the 1st place when malik said it in the presentation ceremony, i guess the correct words didnt come out according to what he meant to say, and obviously so many people are making a big issue out of it he had to apologise to stop it even if HE DIDNT FEEL HE DIDNT SAY ANYTHING WRONG WHICH I DO AGREE WITH

anyhow, media are gona be at his side always to pick on something and its good that malik is a strong character and will not let anyone back track him
