Andrew Symonds........ Take a bow!

This guy is an extremely dangerous guy and probably the one whom you wouldn´t want to drop more than once in your lifetime because if he scores Australia rarely loses (six out of six in wins), Sreesanth did that however. Sorry for adding salt to an injury but that drop cost India the game. Let´s take nothing away from Symmo who played brilliantly. India had got the hold of the match when he walked into the middle. He smartly converted ones into twos and kept the scoring over four and half all the time. Disregarding the fact that Australia were four down and had just lost a wicket in the previous over he took the attack to Yuvraj Singh and belted him around for 15 runs to set the ton for something special. He was already spurred by India´s celebrations over the Twenty20 win and then Sreesanth´s un-human-being-like acts after dismissing him couple of times. He can hit the ball as hard as he likes to and has got excellent temperament. He was always one of my most favourite Australian batsman. So watch out for this man in up coming series´.

Andrew Symonds will surely be the 'Man of the Series'.

He has got shades of Viv Richards in him. Can play well under pressure and that too by playing his natural game. Doesn´t matter how many wickets you have lost he just keeps things simple at the other end. Bowl a loose delivery you will be punished in any type of circumstances. Excellent cricketer to have in your team who can bowl tight line and fields brilliantly. Never gives up this man !

He's a beast of a batsman and one of the best fielders in the world too. However his bowling is overrated. Anyone who considers him a 5th bowler or an allrounder must be blinded by the hype.

Its amazing how comparable Afridi and Symonds are - both are great fielders, can be beasts with the bat, and atleast handy with the ball.

dont degrade and insult symonds hard work as a cricketer, as a world class batsmen and a world class fielder by comparing him with afridi. i cant believe you actually tried to compare both these players. not only that, you found it "amazing" that both players a so alike.

I knew somebody who's confused whether he's an Aussie or a Pakistani would take the bait.

Hard working world class batsman Symonds averages 27 with the bat in tests and 44 with the ball. And the guy who makes other work hard assaults with an ave. of 37 with the bat and 35 with the ball.

Looks like the hard working guy will have to work harder - converting those singles into doubles like mere mortals - unlike the real beast.

Well I think that can happen to anyone but don´t forget the fact that he was the main reason for Australia´s series victory. If someone is going to score 365+ for you very series including a duck, I will happily take that ........

Dude it was said in jest of the thread title, Symonds scoring rate and strike rate has been phenomenal in this series, any team would take this player, he is your true all-rounder, not a panzy wannabe all-rounder like Razzaq or Irfan Pathan.

The difference between the two is "consistancy in batting". Afridi don't have that. Symond has load of it. Hence the average is so vastly differed. Afridi averages 23+ whereas, Symond is 41+ in ODIs. Almost double.
