Is Shoaib Akhtar the only injury prone fast bowler?

http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/rsav...ry/319273.html

This guy is more injury prone than anyone i have knows. He doesnt even have the long run up of Shoaib nor the physical abnormalities yet no one say anything about this guy. This is not something new from him, yet again he gets injured on a crucial tour when his team needed him the most.

So if Bond and others get injured all the time...it is ok for Shoaib to keep doing it at a world record pace too?

The general trend is the faster you bowl, the more likely you will get injured due to the increased and unnatural stresses on your body.

People who criticise Akhtar seem to have little understanding of this basic fact. All 150kph bowlers get injured, many for extended periods of time - Fidel Edwards (pace has reduced), Lee, Ngam (he's out for the count), Zahid (out for the count), Hayward (no pace anymore, practically out for the count), Tait's now injured, Sami, etc etc

Yeah but can you also elaborate which one of these bowlers are/were as physically over weight/Bulked up as Shoaib is?

All I know is if he loses some weight/bulk and stop smoking, he can stop looking like he is gonna fall and die any moment after each delivery...even when he is barely using his full run up these days

Agreed Monsee, the guy doesn't look fit at all. To be fair he does look like a Manatee, and while in the past it was relatively easy to tell whether it was more muscle or fat, i'm not sure now (though i'm guessing he's bulked up on both)

All said and done, if he gets fit it will not only be good for himself but also for his team...and that should matter something to him after all according to a few here he is the 'Most Patriotic Player' in our team since he did not sign up for ICL

Also, they don't have to keep sending 'Mr Machera AKA Yasir' as his replacement after every few overs!

With MoYo having fitness issues, Shoaib always the fit man he is, Akmal's mysterious finger injury, and fielders like Butt etc. our team looks like a 'Pension Fund' waiting to get started

It was sadly only a matter of time before Shane Bond was injured again.

Either he's just plain unlucky or his body cant take the riguors of international cricket. He doesnt look overweight or in bad shape, so I guess there are other issues.

Its a shame, as Bond is one of those bowlers that I love to watch in action.
