The Fastest Finger in the East - Jayaprakash

He was described by many as India's most effective debutant. Never had an Indian debutant made such an impact on their team. Others described him as the find of the century for Indian cricket.

His finger was up quicker than Clint Eastwood could pull the trigger of a gun. At times it seemed like his finger was raised in the direction of the Pakistani batsmen even before Kumble had appealed.

He seemed disappointed at the presentation ceremony that he wasnt awarded the Man of the Match award.

I spoke to Ijaz Ahmed about this match and asked him about his dismissal - Ijaz just laughed and didnt have words to describe it.

What was intresting about the 2nd inns was kumble in his 1st spell took no wickets and was bowling at end bucknor was umpiring, suddenly when he changed ends he then start to take wickets as his wife was umpiring and giving all the decisions.

I think you only have to watch the 2nd innings wickets and see just how quickly this man was giving the Pak players out.

3, perhaps 4 of the dismissals were absolute shockers !

I have totally lost faith in some of the Indian umpires though. They seem like they really dont know what they are doing , hesitant and reluctant about their decisions.

i24.2 Kumble to Shahid Afridi, OUT: edged outside the off. confident
appeal and Jayaprakash gives it

Pakistan 101/1, Partnership of 101
Shahid Afridi c Mongia b Kumble 42 (65b 7x4 0x6)
A Kumble 8.2-0-37-1 (1nb)

Afridi seems very unhappy
Ijaz is the new batsman in

24.3 Kumble to Ijaz Ahmed, OUT: yorker length, on the pads. big appeal.
gives him out!

Pakistan 101/2, Partnership of 0
Ijaz Ahmed lbw b Kumble 0 (1b 0x4 0x6)
A Kumble 8.3-0-37-2 (1nb)
it was a full toss
almost a full toss, but there may be some doubt as to whether it

Ijaz was quite well forward though

Seen much worse desisons(including the one today of Sanga)

Just because Afridiw as unhappy you conclude it was not out?

And Ijaz'a say it had some doubt not that it was definitely missing leg!

The main point is not even how many wrong decisions went against us...it was the timing, manner, and efficiency with which they were delivered that got us to crumble!

Afridi and Anwar were in great touch and Pak going great guns when Mrs. Kumble went out of her way to do her 'Gharailoo' duty; apnay pati ki upayay vishant ker dhi uss Sati Sawitri nain...

once Afrdi and Ijaz were given out, add Yousuf to the fold; after that a collapse was almost inevitable at that point

Afridi bat was noway close to the ball, the bat was at least 6 inches away from the ball and I don't know why on earth the Indians appealed and to a huge surprise the finger was up in a flash.

you dont know why the indians appealed or are you acting like you dont know why they appealed? fielders heard a sound as the ball went pass the bat and they appealed, unfortunately they were not as lucky as you are to see the replay in slow motion to understand that the bat hit the pad. its bad umpiring but not a bad appeal at all.

And when in Chennai test match Ganguly was caught with 2 bumps on the ground and cheats Moin Saqlain all went off as if there was a pitch quake, the umpire rasied it. So its all part of the game. You have lost all to Kumble that day

They weren't 2 bumps, it only bounced once and Moin was in the process of diving and he wouldn't have known that. The umpire was a Kiwi and he didnt raise his finger infact he went to the Leg umpire and consulted him (who was an Indian), Jayaprakash raised his finger as if he had to run to the toilet to ****

In that same game..in the first inning...the exact same situation happened. Ganguly hit one that bounced off the top of his boot and was caught...Moin appealed but the umpire didnt give it. So it actually did even out.

How does that excuse Gayprakash from giving outs on almost every appeal.....and if you look closely a couple of decisions (LBW's mind you) he hesitates (stop/started his arm)..and then gives it....for an LBW you have to 100% sure...when you hesitate that means you're not 100% sure..which alone proves his bias.

Do you seriously think he would have given those same decisions had it been Saqlain bowling and Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid at the other end instead of Afridi, Ijaz and Yousuf?

You must give credit where its due. Out of the 10 Kumble actually took 6 wickets, 4 must be credited to JayaPrakash.

oh dont tell me watch the video again, it was an Indian umpire VK Ramaswamy who gave Ganguly out ( consulting or not consulting the leg umpire) It was the way Moin and Saqlain cried in the mid of pitch that poor Ramaswamy got terrified.....and wet his pants before raising the finger. Pls dont terrorise the umpires atleast the indian umpires;-(

Secondly there is nothing called evens out in decesion a wrong is wrong. so the match which you should have lost later won by India in Delhi. Credit to all 10 Kumble

Check the record series was 1-1. Now unofficially you will want to say that Pak won as one of the test was included in Asian test champs.....But that actually happened isnt it....

yes on paper the series may have ended 1-1 but in all reality and purposes that 3rd test was the decider. It was billed as such by the media and players of both sides beforehand and was initially scheduled as the 3rd test before it was incorporated into the ATC instead.

We won that series. Simple as that.

It isn't a post in 'light-vein'..its pretty much questioning the credibility of Kumble's 10 for..
and bordering on the opinion that indian umpires favor the indian team all the time...which is ridiculous..we've been on the receiving end of the bad umpiring decisions of our umpires as much as any other touring team...

would the topic continue 'in light vein' if some indian here decided to discredit shoaib's good performace in the ODI series by calling him a 'chucker/drug cheat'?..

1. Oh come on. Read Saj's post again. It is patently obvious that it is a light hearted post. Saying things like 'Prakash was dissapointed he didn't get MOTM award', 'Prakash find of the century for indian cricket'. Ofcourse it is light hearted. If you can't handle it then tough.....deal with it!

2. By all means start a thread on chucking or doping. Both issues which have been discussed endlessly and tirelessly on pakpassion.

3. Remember this is a Pakistani website. So don't expect it or us to be neutral. We are not neutral. This website is for people passionate about Pakistan cricket. It's nice we have guests from other countries but don't expect us to bend over backwards just because you can't handle some light hearted banter about Jayaprakash.

1. I'm no fan of JPrakash..he's horrible...but it isn;t all abt Prakash now is it?

Only the first post is 'light hearted'.. run thru the posts made by the author..to see what he's hinting doesn't need much thinking...and to even go so far as to say "Pak was a victim' in the second test is ridiculous..

Ofcourse it is a pakistani forum and all... but it has been a gr8 forum for cricket..with a lot of quality posts and members.. which has made it popular among all supporters.. Why lose it with threads like these which hints at discrediting an opposition win and a player's performance by linking it with a bad umpire

Besides umpiring errors are not a rarity these days.. India's tour of england was an umpiring horror in itself...

And make no mistake..I'm not going to waste my time making some thread abt Shoaib chucking and pass comments like I'm some physics expert.. as far as I'm concerned "The pros have passed the verdict" and akhtar/murali have a fair action if they say so.. All i was saying that the "humor" here is in similar taste..

Pakistan was the victim of some horrendous umpiring by Jayaprakash in the 2nd innings of that test and nobody has said India have never been the victims of horrendous umpiring.

Like it or not this is a Pakistani forum and so there will be threads which are from the Pakistani perspective. From the Pakistani perspective we got screwed over that day by Jayaprakash. If it was the other way round and it was a Pakistani umpire who did that to India you would have felt the same way and there would have been numerous threads on Indian forums with far harsher tones and language being used.

And who has denied this? When India were touring England there were plenty of threads about bad umpiring. This thread is not related to that. It is related to Jayaprakash. Don't like it? Tough. Either don't click on the thread or take your business elsewhere.

With due disrespect to the incompetence of Jayaprakash, he is far from being the fastest finger. It was umpire S.K. Bansal . See this if you guys need more proof ...

Bansal was almost walking from his place to do a high 5 with Indian team ...

Delhi test bar Afridi decision all the other decisions were fair decisions. It is not like they were going to chase 420 runs ! Pakistan absolutely had no chance. Once the ball got older Kumble absolutely had strangle hold of the match.

one more proof that pakistani umpires are the worst in world

http://www.cricinfo.com/database/ARC...03NOV1978.html

India needed just 20 runs in 3 overs and they had 8 wickets.... and you know what, pakistani players had always trusted their umpires..they bowled 4 noballs way over the head of batsman...but our great pakistani umpires were pathetic and didnt give a single ball... rest is history...haha, cant imagine that pakistani people are talking about indian umpires...lmao

seems you've hit a nerve here saj!

Indian umpires are and always have been the biggest cheats anyway. From back in the 1970s to the days of Hariharan.

Nobody is going to doubt a Kumble's leg before appeal. He is a wicket to wicket bowler. He is not a turner. All the leg before decisions were hit in line.

Jayprakash was a very poor umpire and seemed to be a touch bias as well but Kumble deserved his 10 for..

Jayaprakash was honoured for his achievments in this match by the BCCI and a special edition souvenir shirt numbered 420 was brought out with his name on the back

Never mind this bhai, bhai stuff this is India versus Pakistan and it seems like a few cages have been rattled by this thread.

I would urge everybody to watch the Pakistan second innings dismissals once again and look at the reaction times of Jayprakash - it seemed like this guy had quicker reaction times than Jonty Rhodes in the field.

Good to see things hotting up a little for test matches .. One-Day series was dud in comparison ... Go on mates take a few more digs at each other , it'll make the test series so much more interesting .... Continuing the trend ....

No one could be as biased as the umpires in this video.

Just loved the reaction of the non-striker at 0:18 , walking in front of the stumps to verify if the umpire is watching the same match .........

And in the first dismissal, looks like the guy at silly point did not get a copy of the script

That is got to be the most retarded logic ever!

If Pakistan have only played since 1948-49, what does it matter if Cricketing history is 100 years old?

As for the initial post of this thread, to really read in to that, look up 'Sarcasm', 'Banter' and 'Sense of Humor'

Is that the yardstick? Well, Paks pace bowl in the stumps and have been known for that for over two decades. If there are 10 lbws thus, so be it.

the broad we get here in USA on Zee sports has Atul Wassan and Ashish Kapoor as experts who analyze thing during the breaks.

And guess what Atul Wassan said yesterday at tea interval ? i am quoting him , the exact words were " Kumble would have gotten at least 2 more wickets by now if Jayaprakash was umpiring today."
