Soccer and rugby were both football. Soccer term originally came from England so it is not something Americans started. Australians also call football soccer as they call their rugby football. But I don't know anyone here who follows rugby so I can't tell what they call it, but I am sure it is probably rugby as that is what the clubs are called (I think)

Or are you talking about NFL (American Football)? probably the same logic as above.

I am talking american football? How many times in a gam ethey handball it? All the players should be sent off. Why can't they just call it rugby? Or they just want to invent new games by giving them different name?

USA didn't give a differnet name as I said before. Rugby is football and Australian rules football (also rugby) is also football. They might call it Kanchay, Billy Bong, or Birdy but should it matter to people

Yes but football started before rugby? It just the USA and Australian like ot have its own name to play the game amongst them self. Why do they call iti football when they using hands? What sense does it make?

I love American football ( NY GIANTS) but rugby really seems very different from the NFL. Plus soccer is really not followed here in the US. I guess Soccer (football) is the world's most popular sport and American football is America's most popular sport so I guess Football really means the most popular.

So american football was named something else ? Did they change it after becomeing famous?

On the first point looking at video saj provided not much difference? It looks ver smiliar and scoring, tackling and dribbling is same.

Foot ball is played with foot and only keeper is allowed to tuch the ball with hands.

No it was always called football and soccer was always soccer. There is no dribbling in football and you can only pass the ball once. There are a lot more rules and penalties in American football. Soccer isnt folowed much here in the US.

Ball can be passed more than one but I guess you are talking about forward pass.

...The current NFL labour deal, negotiated in 2006 by Upshaw and then-commissioner Paul Tagliabue, has seen the players taking 60% of the total revenue of the league's 32 teams.

In total, the players will be paid $4.5bn this year, according to club owners...

The only explanation I can come up with is the Football starts with a kick (using feet not hand). (Kickoff)

Once you know rules and purpose, strategies, Football is one of the most entertaining game to watch. Yes, soccer players needs to have more skills with the feet, but soccer is simple. Just few strategies and rules. There is nothing facinating more than watching Bill Bichichek lose. Wait, Kobe lose may top that.

American football isn't rugby. They are two different sports. Having played them both I can confidently say that they are completely different. They're about as similar as baseball and cricket. Get it right mate.
