Fergie v Wenger head-to-head
Since Arsene Wenger took over as Arsenal manager in 1996, he has had some titanic battles with Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson.
There have been some memorable encounters between the two sides with plenty of fireworks along the way, none more so than in the 1999 FA Cup semi-final when Dennis Bergkamp had a last minute penalty saved by Peter Schmeichel. The game went to extra time and ten-man United triumphed with a Ryan Giggs wonder goal to keep them on course for an unprecedented Treble. Arsenal famously clinched the title at Old Trafford when Sylvain Wiltord scored the only goal of the game past Fabien Barthez in 2002 and Marc Overmars's winner at the same venue four years earlier also went a long way to ensuring The Gunners lifted the trophy. United have had the advantage this season with three wins over the North Londoners, including the so-called 'pizzagate' clash when The Red Devils ended Arsenal's 49-match unbeaten record and there was a spat in the tunnel and dressing room afterwards. Those three successes mean that, since the two managers first crossed swords, both have won on 11 occasions. So it is winner takes all this weekend on Cup Final Saturday - who will nudge ahead in the battle of the bosses? Ferguson v Wenger: Man Utd 1-0 Arsenal Winterburn own goal. 16/11/96. queiroz - what a legend!!! showed what he could do at real! - if he is who man utd want in charge - WELL THEN THAT'S JUST GREAT.
it maybe even worse if it is found out that fergie deliberately told his players to kick arsenal about - i wouldnt put it past him |

Fergie is unbeaten in 7 competitve matches against Wenger even though he's past his sell by date. Wenger is good when it comes to playing attractive football but when it comes down to man management and motivation Fergie is head and shoulders above him. Let Wenger achieve what Fergie has and then you can talk. As for Quieroz, he's a good assistant. He's not quite good enough to be manager, but I'd take him as an assistant. He failed at Real, but he wasn't helped by Perez and co. Theres too much poltics at that club. |

and queiroz was so naive that he didnt realise that it would be like that??
wenger is more my sort of manager - his sides play footy the way it should be played - cruyff's philosophy of total football |

? in the first post suggested you disagreed with adi. The reason Wenger won stuff in his first few years is because he inherited a good team. He had the old back four given to him on a plate and made a few additions when he first came. Fergie had an average side and needed to rebuild the whole team again. It was obivous he wasn't going to win much in his first few years. He was on the brink of getting sacked in 1990 before he won the FA cup and started winning trohpies for fun. Anyway, you are right lets stop comparing them. Lets see what Wenger has won after 18 years (if he lasts that long). |
