Stand up for the Champion

Its being a great pleasure to watch one of thegreatest wicket keeper batsmen play and depart from the TEST cricket.

From the time i started watching cricket i always idealized Adam Gilchrist for his style of electrifying cricket both behind and in front of the stumps. His square cuts and flick shots are the most prized shots from a wicket keeper batsmen.I can say that i have idealized him and being a good wicket keeper and batmen to play for my club all credit goes to GILLY.

I also liked him for his honesty and being a gentlemen. He always walked when he was out even before umpires made decision and i never say him sledging someone from behind the stumps.Other good quality of his is that he believes in Sportsmanship , and let me tell you that there are only few cricketers who comes close to him being a honest player, to name few are likes of Sangakarra, Younis Khan and Dhoni ..........

Therefore hats off to Gilly for his great entertainment and his great attitude towards the game. The game of cricket have lost again a great player to go with Warne, Macgrath, Jaysuryia and Inzimam .. certainly comes among these players ..From me and behalf of fans of cricket have a good future with your family and may GOD BLESS YOU

THANK YOU ADAM GILCHRIST

Amazing cricketer. I will miss watching him play, even though he was a thorn in Pakistan's side.

Well played Gilly! You deserve a relaxing retirement.

I wish he continued another year or two before he finally hung his gloves.A break of a couple of months from the one dayers would have given him enough breather to regain his form and concentration.anyway, it was his choice.

I have nothing but the highest respect, for being a role model cricketer and a gentleman, for Adam Gilchrist.take a bow, Gilly!

Thank the gods he's gone. Flintoff was able to get the better of him in the 2005 Ashes series but that was the only time. Too formidable an opponent by half!

So what happened in the test against Pakistan in 1999 when he was out Caught Behind and also Plumb LBW...did he walk or what?

He basically pick and chose when to walk and when to not...a little hypocritical if you ask me

your right, had he walked when clearly nicking the ball behind, pak would have won the test match and possibly the series, hes been honest but to judge him completely fair is way over the top, sometimes his apealing is way over the top

It was Langer that was given not out off Wasim in that test.

Also it's a bit rough to expect him to walk for an LBW appeal?

Both Langer and Gilly were caught behind in that innings and were not given out. I can never forget that test match

anways to walk or not to walk is another subject matter, Gilchrist was the most dangerous batsmen in the modern cricket era and as big a match winner as they come.

That was his debut Test Series. Can you cite any other instance of him not walking? The guy walked even in a WC semi-final, so I wouldn't say he picked and chose when to walk.

No one is a saint but I'd say he's a bit more honest than most in the game.

Ok, fair enough...but what about all the 'Wrong appeals' he was part of where one could clearly see that he should not have appealed...since he was in the best position to see that there was no nick or it was a bump catch etc?

As I said, he's not perfect and he has never made any such claim afaik lol.

As a keeper Gilly has to work as part of a fielding team, while as a batsman he answers to himself.
