Gibbs reprimanded for abusing Indian born Goolam Bodi

I watched the pro20 match between the Cobras and the Dolphins last week where Hershelle Gibbs was seen verbally abusing Indian born Gulam Bodi. He also put his hand on his genitals and faced a section of the crowd who were booing at him.

I am surprised that Cricket South Africa has allowed him to get away from his disgusting behaviour with only a reprimand. It's no wonder he keeps on behaving this way.

Gibbs guilty of misconduct

Wed, 02 Apr 2008

Test cricketer Herschelle Gibbs was found guilty on Wednesday of breaching Cricket SA's code of conduct and was severely reprimanded for his behaviour.

Gibbs, opening batsman for the Nashua Cape Cobras, was found to have contravened clause 1.4 regulating players' on-field conduct, the CSA said in a statement.

Clause 1.4 states that players shall not use crude or abusive language nor make offensive gestures.

Gibbs appeared before CSA disciplinary commissioner, Advocate Michael Kuper, for an incident at a Pro20 match between the Dolphins and the Cobras at Newlands on 26 March.

Match referee on the day, Barry Lambson, had complained about Gibbs' conduct.

"Gibbs was severely reprimanded for his actions when he appeared in Johannesburg today," the cricket body said.

Gibbs is also facing charges of drunken driving. He was arrested last week in Sea Point, Cape Town for allegedly driving under the influence.

He is out on R500 bail and will appear in court on 27 June.

Exactly. Many Cape Coloureds worship whites but hate black and Indian/Pakistani people. Gibbs made those disgusting gestures towards a group of Indian fans

'Cape Coloureds' are a mixed race people living in Cape Town. When the Dutch first arrived in South Africa they landed in Cape Town and no females were on that ship. The Dutch than married the local black women. The Dutch than colonised Cape Town and than they brought Malaysian slave males to Cape Town. The Malay slaves also married black women. The Dutch also sent ships from India to South Africa (Dutch East India Company). These ships had on board Indian slave women from Bengal. The Dutch married these women on the ships. Thats why Jan van Riebeeck's wife's name was Maria van Bengal (Maria from Bengal). Their wives were forced to abandon Hinduism and Islam and convert to Christianity.

I hope that this will help you understand the history of the Cape Coloureds (Gibbs, Langeveldt, Prince, Peterson, Philander etc)

Philander is Cape Coloured. Ntini and Zondeki are the only black members in the Proteas 'Players of colour' group.

A bit of digression here, is GOOLAM BODI Indian ?

Are you sure someone did not interchange the last letter of the first name with the first letter of the last name ?

GOOLAB MODI (which is an indian name)

or

GOOLAM BODI (I really dont know what this means or which language this from).

What silliness . The cape coloured community are mostly of malaysian descent and thus get on very well with the pakistani and Indian muslim/hindu communities . They also traditionally were sectioned to the same parts of the cities and are well integrated. I really don't see any anti asian racism in south africa. The indian community is one of the richer groups of the population (as rich as the whites in general) , well educated and respected . The reality is that white south africans have much bigger things to worry about to invest any of their time into hating the asian community .

That part I don't remember . I remember she was Maria , but i remember her being depicted as a white woman . We were victim to so much propoganda so nothing would surprise me ....interesting to know if it is as you said though .

In the 1970's the afrikaaners embraced the new genetics technology to try and prove their"pureness" but quickly abandoned it when they found out that 90% of them had some"african" blood in them . Genetically "white" afrikaaners of early heritage and black south africans are more similiar than nigerians and black south africans.
