Robinho 2 arsenal?

Brazilian super-kid Robinho has played down talk of a move to Arsenal.

The Santos starlet is focusing on helping his club win the Copa Libertadores but The Gunners sent representatives to Sunday's domestic league clash with Atletico Mineiro and they were accompanied by the player's agent Wagner Ribeiro.

Real Madrid remain favourites to snare the South American prodigy when he decides to embark on a career in Europe, but reports of interest from Arsene Wenger could see the chase hot up.

"They were there to look at the soccer in general," Robinho told Radio Cultura. "Not only Santos and not only me.

"I prefer to stay at Santos and win the Copa Libertadores.

"I want to give my best to help Santos become champions.

"What will be better for everybody will be better for me as well."

Chelsea and Barcelona have also showed an interest in the 21-year-old, who did not score in the 3-0 win against Atletico Mineiro.

However, he bagged a brace in the Copa Libertadores against Universidad de Chile on Wednesday to help smooth Santos' passage into the quarter finals.

Robinho has 13 goals in the competition this term and his performance in midweek drew critical acclaim as he earned a penalty, which he converted himself, with a sublime piece of skill.

Arsenal need 2 spend their money on this kid hes the new Ronaldhinio.

adi - i would watch ur ignorant remarks. Only problem would be the work permit issue - real madrid is likely for this guy but i know barca have shown heavy interest as well as chelsea. Likely to be one of those 3 clubs IMO

Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torres has sparked a potential transfer scramble by admitting he wants to leave - with Chelsea known admirers.

The young striker, nicknamed 'El Nino', is disappointed by Atletico's failure to challenge for honours at the top of La Liga.

And according to El Mundo Deportivo his advisors are ready to meet Barcelona's club bosses in a bid to secure a move away from the capital.

The paper claims Torres is keen on a move to the newly-crowned Spanish champions, who already have a plethora of attacking options.

It also reports that Barca could offer Juan Roman Riquelme and Javier Saviola in a bid to persuade Atletico to sell.

Riquelme spent last season on loan at Villarreal while Saviola was in Monaco.

But Chelsea, who have been linked with a big-money move for Torres in the past and are known to be in the market for a new striker this summer, could rekindle their interest.

The striker has also been linked with Manchester United, who could also enter the hunt should Atletico confirm plans to sell the hitman.

torres overrated? u dont rate el nino? - may i ask why AJ - he is similar to raul IMO in the way that neither is exceptionally strong or quick but has a great footballing mind.

Torres can play as a target man or a second striker, his technique is exceptional - a bright prospect! he would be ideal for arsenal as well to partner henry

I have seen Torres play many times and he has been brilliant!

I remember when Atletico played Barca, Torres made Puyol look like a mug at times (not many players can do that to Puyol)

AJ if Arsenal sign Torres then you will be well lucky -

owen is a proven goal scorer... and if henry got inured or needed a rest then owen can still do the bizz!

id rather have a proven top quality premiership player in owen!

u seem 2 to be comparing 2 diff types of strikers....!

Arsenal desperately need a finsher around the box. Both Owen and Torres would fit the bill. Owen is proven in the premiership and would also be cheaper.

Brazilian wonderkid Robinho admits that Arsenal have been in contact with his representatives about a sensational move for the Santos man.

Robinho has long been touted as the next big star to emerge from the historically football rich grounds of Brazil, and both Real Madrid and Chelsea are believed to hold a strong interest.

The 21-year-old has broken in to the Brazilian national setup after consistently dazzling displays for Santos, and has been praised by Pele amongst others for his prodigious technique and ability.

Despite initially remaining cautious about interest from Arsene Wenger's side, Robinho has now conceded that he is in talks with The Gunners and would love to play alongside French star Thierry Henry.

"Arsenal have been in touch with my people in the last few days and they have made me aware of the offer," Robinho told the News of the World.

"I am very proud that they are looking at me because a club like Arsenal doesn't come in for you every day.

"It would be a dream for me to play alongside Thierry Henry, we will continue to talk."

Arsenal will reportedly launch a £14 million bid for his services, and if Robinho makes the move to Highbury he would join the likes of Robin van Persie and Jose Antonio Reyes in a strike-force blessed with fledgling talent.

It seems alot of people want to play with Henry. Its crazy how players just want to play for a team becuase of one player it shows how respected Henry really is.

Robinho would prefer to move to Spain rather than England the player's agent has revealed after it was announced that both Arsenal and Juventus have shown an interest in the Santos youngster.

Wagner Ribeiro revealed that the two clubs had added their names to the list of prospective clubs showing an interest in the outstanding forward.

Both Juve and the Gunners had scouts watching Robinho in Santos' recent Copa Libertadores encounter with Universidad de Chile.

"Robinho has attracted the interest of the best clubs in the world," Ribeiro said.

"Not only does Real Madrid want him, but also Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus have all made enquiries, although he would prefer to move to Spain rather than England."

But Robinho's first choice would be to move to Real Madrid as there is already a large Brazilian contingent at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"Things would be a lot easier at Madrid," Riberio continued. "Especially as there are so many Brazilians there already."

Coach Wanderley Luxemburgo is a big fan of the highly-rated 21-year-old and he would link up with national team stars such as Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo.

Reports in England recently suggested that Arsenal are preparing a bid, but they face an uphill battle to stop Madrid from landing him after the Spanish giants began the process of securing his services many months ago.

All depends on how much arsenal are willing to pay for him. Its most likely gnr be real madrid unless arsenal decide to spend some big money which they do have at the moment.
