IPL tonight: Royals Vs Royal Challengers

Bangalore Royal Challengers play Rajasthan Royals in the second game tonight starting in about 5 and half hours. Both teams are coming off wins in their last games. Bangalore after losing to Kolkatta in the IPL inaugaration game won against Mumbai. Rajasthan lost their first encounter against Delhi but then scored a win against Punjab followed by an unexpected moral boosting win against Hyderabad.

Should be interesting to see if Warne can continue his magic touch.

Rajasthan has historically been associated with the rajput royal houses.
RC is named after the Royal Challenger brand of its owners.

Both teams have been named independently and both names make sense despite the confusion they may cause.

"Royal challengers"= Marxist communists.... thats the literal translation of 'challenging the royals"

Hilarious - simple question, how many teams? Remember, Im not following this in the way that some others are.

You would have thought that with the limited number of teams, someone would have noted that there were 2 teams by the same name.

I know IPL is a bit of an easy target today, but its a legit query...

Fair enough - accuse me of lacking common sense. But to a non-India, its 2 teams with the same name...

If you need to write a thesis to explain the team names, than perhaps someone hasnt done a very good marketing job.

Listen pal - when I dont know, I ask - I dont keep my mouth shut as you are requesting.

As you are unable to provide the info, I'll assume there are between 8-12 teams.

Hardly rocket science to get 8-12 sepearte names for such a limited numvber of teams.

So, eventually, I had to answer my own question.

Thanks Oxy!

This is not the only name clash. You also have Punjab Kings vs. Chennai Super Kings.

Asking me to keep my mouth shout for the 2nd time isnt going to work either.

Rather than answer the question, the response I got was 'cant you count'!!!

Anyway - its been confirmed that the idiots couldnt name the teams without duplicating the names of 2 teams 4 times!!!!

Oxy has a valid point. There is a serious lack of imagination while naming the teams.
