Afridi: ready to eat his words.

Hi guyz...just saw an Afridi interview on TV now and guess what he had to say when a journalist asked him if he would like to say something to Murali ahead of today's game...

Shahid:"Beware...watch it!" followed by that goofy leer of his.

Boy!! talk about embarrasing yourself...

murali aint no magician.. so Afridi cud have a point

wheras most batsmen will defend murali for 5 overs before taking a single.. Afridi will go after him from 1st ball..
so we see who eats who when the game begins?

Well, the interview was in very friendly term, with both players praising each other and pulling each others leg at the same time. They had a similar interview between Smith and Murali on very friendly terms and then tried to twist their words with the ticker reading. Smith : Murali is ineffective. Murali : SA presence in the dressing room not gonna help things", kind of stuff

Afridi is probably a better one day bowler at the moment ...

and Mumu a better batsmen.

Well, that whats actually happened.

Afridi said Murali is his favourite bowler and perhaps the greatest. He admires him a lot but will not keep from hitting out. He said that if its my day, just watch out.

Murali said Afridi is always agressive and good to watch. He said he respects Afridi as a batsman and it will be a good challenge. He also said that he wouldnt hold the ball in (i.e bowl flatter) and that in 20/20 with the batsmen going hard at the ball, its easier to get wickets.

The last but one was drawn 1-1 (4 match) if thats what you were asking with Aus barely saving the last test to hang onto a draw.

not quite my friend...Afridi is waaay past his peak, he is just a mindless slogger whos pride is more important than the team's position(T20 final )..so whatever he does is nothing but fluke cos he is a slogger and sloggers don't have batting skills...hell i could replace him with a local blacksmith and expect the same results that he produces

From this comment, it shows that this guy just banks on a fluky innings Id love to see him bat using his head and not wait for his day to come.

who cares if he performs with the bat - he is primarily a bowler -

I think Afridi did his self a monumental disservice by making the fastest one day century in his first match - he came into the team as a bowler but was constantly pushed to be a real batsman - let him bowl in peace and lets just enjoy the 1 in 10 games heroics he produces.

If i am not wrong, his career started as batman, as a opener, scored fast century in debut match or not. Then, he continued as batman and go on.

No. He was in the squad as a leg-spinner.

They saw he could hit the ball far, during net-sessions. The game against SL, Pak needed to win by a huge margin to get to the final - so he was sent in at number three - and blasted the fastest hundred in ODI

He was a leg spinner who could bat a bit and converted into a batsman who bowled a bit. The biggest mistake made with his career.

Afridi was selected as a leg spinner but he showed his hitting talent in the nets so the captain decided to send him up at # 3 as the pinch hitter.

The way Afridi slaughtered that duck waiting for him at the crease with 20 off 6 spells bad news for all ducks everywhere.

If Afridi continues on his rampage then this could mean the extinction of duck-kind
