Main Difference In This Test - Fidel Edwards (+True Pace)

I think the difference in this test match was Fidel Edwards. The rest of the Windies attack isn't anything too great (but bowl with good discipline). I know that there are unresolved issues with techniques of certain players too, but being torn apart by a bowler like him is no shame. The booming, away-swinging 94mph deliveries were frankly venomous and difficult for any batsman to play - you could tell he had found the rhythm that was sadly lacking Vs SA.

Fidel's absence was clear in the 2nd innings and it was reflected in our batting - remember guys that we've scored nearly 300 in the last innings of a test match - no easy feat. Aside from Fidel, we had little trouble from their bowling elsewhere.

The main problem as i see it in the bowling department is the lack of penetration from the pacers. We could really do with an express bowler. I don't care who it is, Akhtar, Sami, Irshad, Yasir Ali or whoever. I wouldn't constantly hammer the point if we didn't have that rare talent, but we do and we should benefit from it.

had we scored 350 in the first innings , we had a chance then to nail this match , but it wasnt to be ..... it was a batting failure rather then a bowling failure

Nah the main difference was lack of application and commitment from our batsmen and nothing else, it was a flat wicket a perfect batting track and we made a hash of things.

I think there were a few main differences:

Unprofessionalism in the field (Noballs, dropped catches etc)

Lack of application by Pak batsman and poor footwork and technique

Fidel Edwards
Brian Lara
Shiv Chanderpaul

I know DM that you, like me, love sheer pace bowlers. LOL. Thats why we gotta throw in Irshad and Ali. Sheer pace is a potent weapon, especially when we got no pace right now

It was the pathetic decision to leave out one of the world's best bowlers.
