Stanley Cup Finals 2008
Are there any hockey fans here at all?
Who's going to be watching game 1 of Pittsburgh-Detroit? I think the Red Wings are going to take this series in 6 games...the Penguins, even though they have so much talent, do not have the experience to match the Wings. |

Pretty excited about it.
Not exactly sure why the NHL decided to put in such a long break between rounds. Maybe it was to make sure the maximum number of games were on NBC because hardly anyone gets versus in the states. The Red Wings are the better team, but I'll be cheering for the Pens. Detroit doesn't deserve a championship team. Their fans have become far too spoiled. There were lots of empty seats at Joe Louis Arena throughout these playoffs. It's almost like the Red Wing fans have taken it for granted that they wings will be a top team. |

The Pens have the advantage on offense, but Osgood and the Detroit defence have been playing really well. Add in the fact that these two teams last played in 2006, this series is wide open in my opinion. But again, I think Detroit's experience will give them the win.
I'd like the Pens to win. Crosby winning the Stanley Cup would give the NHL a pretty big boost and elevate his superstar status higher than it already is. Its 0-0 at the moment, with about 3 minutes to play in the first period. |

Wings win 4-0. Although it was a closer game than that.
Wings experience made the difference tonight. The first period was close and they fought off some penalties and just took the game away from Pit in the second and third. I have looked this up but I think the shots after the first period were 12-11 for Detroit and the shots at the end of the game were 35-14 for Detroit. That pretty much sums it up. |

Yea, the Pens were down 1-0 after 2. I was hoping that it'd be close and they'd be able to tie it in the third, but the Wings were too much.
And the final shots were 36-19 for Detroit. Pittsburgh was held to 4 shots in the 2nd and 3 shots in the 3rd. Thats pretty pathetic for this high power Penguins offense, but it also shows how great the Detroit D is. |

Game 2 was all Wings.
We're through 2 periods in Game 3 and Pittsburgh is up 2-1 with Crosby scoring 2 goals. |

Pens ended up winning Game 3 by a score of 3-2.
I think the Red Wings will take the next game. Even in this game, Detroit looked to be in control for most of the game once they got settled in. Pittsburgh was outshot 16-5 in the 3rd period. |

Oh man, what a game. Marc-Andre Fleury take a bow. He made 55 saves tonight. The Penguins won 4-3, 10 minutes into the third overtime period.

The Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in game 6, earlier. They won 3-2, it got close at the end, and was almost headed for another OT.
Henrik Zetterberg got the Conn Symthe, although I think Chris Osgood deserved it...he did great after taking over from Dominik Hasek in the playoffs. |
