India sends back Ansar Burney

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/I...ow/3087370.cms

AMRITSAR: Indian authorities sent back Ansar Burney, a human rights activist of Pakistan, who was instrumental in having Indian prisoner Kashmir Singh released, when he landed at Delhi airport late on Friday night.

Burney, a former minister in Pakistan, had arrived in India to participate in an anti-terrorism conference involving both the countries in New Delhi. He had arrived here from London via Dubai.

Talking to TOI from Delhi airport, Burney said, "This is the most heartbreaking moment in my life... I can't understand how the Indian government could deport a person who is relentlessly working for the good of Indians lodged in Pakistani jails."

Burney said he was not given any reason by the immigration officials but was told to go back to Dubai. Burney had played a major role in securing the release of Indian prisoner Kashmir Singh from Pakistan's Kot Lakhpat Jail.

Isn't he now some Humans rights official? Why deport to Dubai instead of Paksitan. He probably went to India looking for a Paksitani he can be vocal about.

I did like his appearance in HBO documetary about kid camel jockeys in UAE though. The documentary had two main things the kids and him trying to get the kids out

Good ! This guy was licking India's backside for a long time. He is busy realeasing convicted Indian prisoners in the name of human rights and at the same time didn't utter a word on the extra judicial killings of Pakistanis dying in Indian prisons. All that while he was the Human Rights minister of Pakistan. A complete attention seeker who just wanted fame and power and nothing else. Good for him I say.

It is a ridiculous decision. My guess is they have given in to some kind of pressure. Question is where is this pressure coming from and why can't India resist it.

What is this guys background and religious/ political inclinations.

Inexplicable decision!
This sends a very poor message. It will be very interesting to hear why he was deported.

The new Pakistan government has something to do with it.

Burney is a Former Human Rights minister who was appointed by his close friend Pervez Musharraf.

They arent happy that Burney used the release of Indian prisoners for Publicity either.

I'm not too disappointed to see this.

Surprised - YES.

Then why was he allowed to go?

Just heard Burney on TV
He said the main reason for this action was because he went to IND to inquire the deaths of the 4 Pakistani prisoners and also seek pardon of other Pakistani prisoners.

The Wonderful and Biggest Democracy in the World at it again...not surprised one bit!

P.S. All those Indian prisoners (in Pak jails) who hoped that Burney might help their case (especially the innocent ones)...now do know their lovely Indian govt loves them too!

India says sorry

New Delhi: India has said sorry to Ansar Burney, the former Pakistan human rights minister, for not allowing him entry to the country.

Burney, who had come to Delhi on Friday night to attend a peace conference, was sent back from the Indira Gandhi International Airport soon after his arrival.

The Union Home Ministry statement said, "Burney was denied entry and not deported on account of inadequate documentation. It may be mentioned that no such difficulty had arisen when Mr. Burney visited India in April 2008 when requisite information about his visit was available in advance. The inconvenience to Mr. Burney is unfortunate and regrettable."

Apologies have been conveyed to Burney, who is now in London, and a Home Ministry inquiry is underway but the man who was instrumental in securing the release of Kashmir Singh, an Indian prisoner languishing in a Pakistani jail for 35 years, is not convinced.

"It was so surprising for me. It was so painful. I cannot imagine such type of behaviour with me in India," Burney said about being denied entry into India.
There would be some red faces in Delhi but it good to see them admit mistakes rather than try and hide it.

Hmmm, interesting angle of thought.

He was in India last April and there was no problem for him to enter the country. How come suddenly his papers are not so good this time?

Also, looking at the reputation he has after fighting for prisoners, its very strange action by Indian authorities.

However, Indian authorities are accepting that its a mistake at their side due to communication failure between Indian embassy in Islamabad and Delhi.

it doesn't matter if they let him enter the country or not as this guy or any other person would not b able to help prisoners on both sides after stupidity shown by Indian Govt and Kashmir Singh for admitting of wrong doings after release.
now only some fishermen will be let go from both sides after some talks and to show some bhai bhai love
