PakPassion Presents an Exclusive Interview with Yasir Ali (Questions Thread)

I'm delighted to announce an exclusive interview for PakPassion members with Pakistani international cricket and paceman Yasir Ali.

Yasir is over in the UK playing League cricket and so far is enjoying a very successful season playing for Ainsdale in the Merseyside League.

Yasir was of course the other not out batsman in the unforgettable test match in Multan where Inzamam led Pakistan to a one wicket victory against Bangladesh and was impressive with the Pakistan Academy squad when they toured South Africa a few years ago.

He has been on the fringes of the Pakistan squad on a number of occasions but injuries seem to have hampered his progress. Yasir has recently signed for KRL in Pakistani domestic cricket and will be playing alongside the likes of Sohail Tanvir, Muhammed Wasim, Bazid Khan, Yasir Arafat and Saeed Ajmal.

http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/pakis...yer/43670.html

Usual format - add your questions in this thread and the best 20 questions will be asked to Yasir, whom I hope to meet in a couple of weeks time.

Also folks, there are a number of PP interviews in progress, some where we have had the replies back and others where we are waiting for the answers, so watch this space.

What went through your mind when you faced that ball in the Bangladesh match? Did Inzi come up to you and give you advice (if yes what did he say)?

you are still young and could have a chance to play for pakistan again, what has affected you from being on the international scene since your last game for pakistan??

how is it like playing overseas compared to pakistan, do you think you have improved your bowling more in terms of the pitches compared to flat tracks in pakistan??

Yasir, who is the best captain you have played under and what made that individual so good?

Who is the fastest bowler you have ever faced ?

Who is the best batsman you have ever bowled to and what made him so special?

Tell us about some of the injury problems you have had in recent times. The nature of the injuries and what you think caused them?

Yasir you are a PP legend for being that 17 year old 90mph bowler

What is the fastest you have clocked on a speed gun?
What do you think your fastest speed would have been?
What is the most hostile spell you have bowled? Tell us about it.
Any fast bowling prospects you have seen recently? Tell us about them and speed you think they bowl at.
Tell us about your favourite injuries that you've caused to batsmen.
Is it true you developed stress fractures? Has your action changed and what speed do you bowl now?
What's it like to bowl to Shahid Afridi in the nets?
Who is faster, Zahid or Akhtar?
Who in your view is the fastest bowler ever?

How was it like beeing the non striker when Inzi was batting in that famous Bangladesh test match? What did he say to you prior to your facing your first delivery? Was that a really pressurizing situation for you?

How do you feel that the your second test wicket was of a catch which was never even taken cleanly?

Q) Whats your main strength as bowler? Is it pace, seam movement or swing?

Q) Do you think bowlers like you and A Rauf have been treated fairly by the selectors?

- When last I saw you in a domestic match (in 2004), you looked like one of the Best Bowlers (Fastest also especially compared to Rauf and Irshad) on the domestic scene...you then took a 9 or 10 wicket haul against SA A team in a game; after that, you basically disappeared from the National Radar...did injuried took you away from the scene or what?

- When you see rubbish bowlers like Sami, Samiullah, Riaz Afridi etc. being given chances in the Nat'l team and yet you cannot make a comeback to the senior team, what goes through your head?

- I regard you as one of the Best Young Prospects in terms of Pace, Swing, Control etc., do you think you will be getting a chance in the Pak team again?

- What have you learned (in terms of bowling skill etc.) since making your debut in 2003-04 and do you think you are a much improved/faster/better bowler than before?

- Who else has impressed you in the domestic circuit (who is yet to play for Pakistan), whether a batsman, bowler, or spinner?

Can you tell us how you how got into cricket? Who was your idol growing up?

You grew up in Hazro, a realtive unknown part of Pakistan; what is the standard of cricket there since i was born in the same area? If I remember correctly, you are the only player from attock to have played for Pakistan? Do you still live there?

How does tape ball cricket affect one's bowling?

Who are the top bowling prospects in the country right now not on the national team?

Best of luck Yasir, Inshallah you'll make it back to the Pakistan team very soon.

Is nepotism involved in Pakistani selection? Do selectors prefer the players from their respective departments and the ones who are personally acquainted with them? Is that why you haven't been able to break through?

Yasir I am aware that you are Hafiz-e-Quran. Are there any other first class cricketers that you know are also Hafiz-e-Quran?

Tell us about upcoming bowlers that you view are pretty good for the international level?

Why are there no fast bowlers left in Pakistan, like they use to in the 80's-90s?

What is your speed range, usually, like what speed do you usually operate at?

Do you know Asad Ali, Sohail Khan, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Aamer? If you know any of them, can you tell us what do you think of there bowling?

What are your goals and how do you presist to accomplish them, and when do you see yourself actually playing for Pakistan again?

Do you like the current PCB administration? (No worries talk as you feel, don't be afraid)

You are a bowler, who do you think is the hardest batsmen to bowl at in Pakistan FC level? Are there any guys coming through the ranks that could eventually replace MoYo and YK?

Do you know Azher Ali, if yes, how is his technique?

What do you think of Mohammad Asif? Do you see him going far in ODI cricket?

*Why are there all these meduim pace trundlers in our team, we are known best to have feared pacers?*

Why type of cricket do you play, I mean to say, defensive or attacking?

Who is your idol?

ataullah. Yasir saw your post and was genuinely touched by it.

The answer will appear in his interview which I'll add in the next week or so, but as I say he was very emotional after reading your post.

Well, I think Islam plays a huge role in his life Merc and I guess its difficult for us to appreciate exactly just how big a part it does actually play in his life.
