No permission for IPL if ...

No permission for IPL if it clashes with Aus series: PCB

Sunday, July 13, 2008

Karachi: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today ruled out allowing its players to take part in next year's Indian Premier League if it clashes with their rescheduled home series against Australia.

Brushing aside any possibility of a Sri Lanka type situation where cricketers are on a collision course with their Board over their proposed England tour during IPL season, PCB Chief Operating Officer Shafqat Naghmi reasoned that a domestic tournament -- IPL -- cannot take precedence over international commitment.

"We don't see any confrontation with the players over the clash of dates of the IPL with the Australian tour. IPL is a domestic tournament. International commitments take precedence over the domestic tournaments and IPL is no exception," he said.

"We will work strictly under a principle which has been decided at the International Cricket Council (ICC) level. Obviously the home series against Australia is very important for us and nothing will take precedence over it," he added.

That is understandable. I suggest Pakistani players should focus more international cricket as they can llearn more. Also, Pakistani players didnt perform that great either in the last IPL except for one or two players.

I'm sure they could have found some other time.

But now we are gonna go through the same BS again.

A few months before the tour Symonds, Ponting and the rest of them are gonna start with the snide remarks again.

They will take every chance they get to take cheap shots at Pakistan and will eventually put enough pressure on the ACB to cancel and then they will be off to make their millions in the IPL.

It ain't worth it !

Yawn. I would ask to substantiate what "snide" remarks have been made by Ricky Ponting but you and I know you just make things up to suit yourself eh?

Generally agree with that post aside from the bolded portion.

This is why I provided the link of Australia's schedule. Have a look, and suggest a better time.

You won't show them to me because you would not be able to find them mate.

You referred to "snide" remarks - put em up if they happened.

Or prefer to live in your imaginary wonderland eh?

Yes I did that, I find this "snide" quote:

"We don't know if we're going, and if we do go, we don't know if individuals are going to pull out," Ponting said. "But what we know right now is, yes, there is some apprehension amongst some of the players and that was stated last summer. I don't think that would have changed until now. It might change in the coming weeks. If we get some good news from the security reports over there, then the individual's mindset might change a little bit."

What a nasty thing to say.....

yeah just looked at the schedule and it is quite ridiculous.
There will surely be NUMEROUS injuries because even the Aussies(arguably the fittest team in the world) will struggle to keep up with this brutal schedule.

yea they will be playing nonstop cricket until april 2009. The biggest gap between tours I saw was 11 or 12 days.
