I didn't like Batman Begins (put me to sleep) but everyone I know is giving this one thumbs up. Heath Ledger's performance specially is all over the place. Just heard it on the radio that he'll be nominated for the best supporting actor. RIP

I saw it on Wednesday night. Was definitely as good as the hype suggests. DOnt really need to see the previous ones (well only Batman Begins was a prequel to this).

Zeeshan its ok if u didnt see any before because the only one that is a prequel to this is Batman Begins. All the ones before that were BS/average and have nothing to do with the last 2 batman films.

Brilliant.

Batman Begins was the movie of the year when it was released.

The Dark Knight outdoes it (mainly because of the two villains and that performance of Ledger)...

I loved it, wathching it again tomorrow.

Ledger's The Joker is not only the best, but is now the greatest superhero film villain ever..FULL STOP...People can say what they want about Heath getting too much praise just because he is no longer with us cause it just isn't true. Alive or gone, this was the performance of a lifetime. The make-up, the laugh, the mannerisms, every little thing he did was perfect...Truly oscar worthy...performance by Ledger..yeah as a villain...

First half of the movie, I was still to excited form watching the watchmen trailer but the movie was better than what I had expected.

This joker was as close as you will ever see to the real joker. You get the true sense of what he is supposed to be, an amoral, sadistic, masochist lunatic who is clearly insane The kind of insane that is scary. Jack Nicholson was crazy but this is a whole new level. As good as joker was in this movie, I think it was actually about Harvey Dent. This was the best part about it. Because the joker is not supposed to have a history, he just comes in there as chaos, you don't need back stories or character development.

They have made these movies right. They have showed the true darkness of Gotham city and why Batman needs to be Batman.

Exceeds the hype which says something. Ledger is amazing and this movie is really more about Joker than Batman. There's so much in this movie that you have to watch it twice. Amazingly good.

The Dark Knight is a very good movie and Ledger's performance was simply outstanding, but Batman Begins was better imo mainly because the plot of The Dark Knight is a little too convoluted and because Batman doesn't get the same attention as he did in the first movie.

anybody have a favorite scene?

the two that take it (for me) :
- when he is standing in the middle of the road, urging Batman to run him over....that is crazy
- when he gets thrown off the building, and is laughing hysterically while falling...

People have rated this the BEST movie ever! so yes definitely go check it out.

It's at IMDB #1 of 250 list so that does show how high it's rated.

Heath Ledger aka The Joker was brilliant. Period.

No one has ANYTHING on him.

His words, his lines, his laugh, the way he said it, OMG he was brilliant. I would die for the Joker to come back on the screen.

The parts where he told about his scars were BRILLIANT. (You wanna know how I got these...well..hehe, you know my father was a drunkie...) you know the rest. THat was fabulous.

Heath Ledger is THE BEST VILLAIN EVER. Done deal. No arguments.

Definitely.
Watch it on Imax.

I think he did 15-17 scenes for Imax cinemas (meaning - he used IMAX cameras for the scenes - they're not additional scenes)

But you'll realise the difference from the opening scene...it's almost as if you're in the scenes yourself....

I saw it yesterday in IMAX here in Sydney......... oh man they hype surrounding this movie is true... It is by far the best movie ive seen in a few years and best superhero movie ever... Christian Bale is fav actor so i went to see him but Heath Ledger (RIP) who plays the joker jus blew me away... he keeps the viewers on their seats, honestly best villian ever, don think anyone can match the jokers evilness... he's psychotic, crazy, puts fear in peoples hearts, almost the devil himself and yet looks like a happy clown..... overall ive seen this movie once and will see it again and again.... why so serious!!

Just watched this tonight, better than Batman Begins and Ledger is great but definitely not Oscar worthy. Eckhart gives the best performance in the film tbh.

Would have enjoyed the film a lot more had someone not let slip a fairly big spoiler in the films thread and left me waiting for it to happen all throughout the final hour. So yeah, thanks a lot.

Got this poster though so it wasn't all bad:

A non-related question. In Pakistan do they edit films at the cinema? as in mute swear words, cut frames out of scenes etc? It's just i've experienced this when going to the cinema in Muslim countries before and its REALLY irritating.

Ledger's Joker makes Nicholson's Joker look normal, sane and a poor copy!

Agreed, but the last half hour more than makes up for it.

SPOILERS:

That scene with the Joker hanging upside down but the camera showing it the othe way around; brilliant, brilliant scene from Nolan. Ledger was fantastic, and Eckhart as Harvey Dent was very good as well.

Haven't seen it yet, have tickets for IMAX Waterloo viewing on Friday, earliest I could get at time of booking. Apparently, the moviehouses are sold out for the latest Batman outing (Imax sold out till September).

It better be good and not all Heath-hype.

Awesome! I loved the movie... every actor, every scene, every twist. But still... my favorite was Harvey Dent. He was superb as was everyone else.

And for Ledger... every time he was on the screen, he was cheered. Such was his aura.

Grow up friends. Batman films are for kids under 12.

P.S. I used to find them pretty childish even at that age.

lol at the childish comment

The Batman films are actually very dark and foreboding compared to other super-hero films.

Watch the movie first before making ignorant comments Momo. Nolan is not a kiddie movie director; the guy is brilliant and has made the likes of Memento and Prestige. He has turned the Batman franchise into an amazingly realistic and dark saga of real-life characters.

Sublime movie...Ledger was electrifying and genuinely creepy. Bale was great (still hate his Batman voice though)...the rest of the cast also did their bit..already seen it twice, plan to see it more.

LOL what a pathetic comment..batman has never been for kids..its always been a story filled with dark motifs and psycho's..this film was one of the best I've seen in years..before making immature teenaged comments maybe you should watch it...

While I can see why the older ones seemed childish, this one definitely is not. This movie can be very disturbing for little children. I don't want to list any spoilers but trust me, this is not a kid's movie. (Went to see it for a 3rd time today)

Looks like I have really (unintentionally) stepped on you people's tails. However I am loving every minute of it.

You should try to absorb/digest criticism someday though.

i would if it was coming from someone who knows what he's talking about.... i believe you haven't seen the movie in which the most harsh critics are praising the actors performances and the movie....so you're a nobody....no offence

Yeah, certainly not a kiddie movie. When I went one of my cousins brought his 12 year old brother along and he was a bit scared by the loud explosions and Joker's character. The 60s series and Batman Forever & Batman and Robin were kiddie but Batman in general is not.
I saw it another time, probably should have done Imax but people were going again and asked if I wanted to come so I just said yeah. Was totally worth seeing again.

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are certainly not films for kids. It's ignorant to suggest they are.

with all do respect to heath ledger, i believe he couldnt match the persona of jack nickelson, in the original batman movie, i remember when i first watched it, i was not interested in the personality of batman, but the joker(jack), mind blowing performance, wheras in the dark knight christian bale makes a superb performance, pherhaps the best yet, the director could have made the joker(heath) more in control with his jokes and infamous death gadgets like the original joker, oh well, great movie..
