What is your home like?

I enjoy hearing what other countries peoples homes are like. Please tell me about yours. Mine is as follows:

Main dwelling (265m²): 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, reception area, formal lounge, family room, dining room, kitchen, inside braai (barbecue) area.

Outbuildings (160 m²): 3 garages, entertainment area with outside braai (barbecue) area. Servants quarters with ablutions.

Yard (plot) (1500m²): grassed and treed. Swimming pool. 6 foot walls (not electrified).

Access: Motorised electronic access

Typical upper middle class home BUT my wife's presence makes me feel extremely upper class!!!

Hi Keith

I am from Cape Town. Where are you from

"6 foot walls" I am guessing that you live somewhere in Gauteng. We Capetonians don't live in prisons

Its just people with life sentences live in prisons....everybody else just "visits" - depending on their crime.

I got a candle
and I got a spoon
I live in a hallway
with no doors, and no rooms
Under a windowsill
they all were found
A touch of concrete within the doorway
without a sound

I wanted to know what your homes are like. If you do not have anything decent to say then shut up.

Ah well probably young so can be understood.

This post is in extremely bad taste.

And the bold part could have been expressed better (more unambiguously).

Some people live in a mud hut, which has to be rebuilt whenever it rains!

no offence, but if u are blessed to live like a 'king', one should offer more charity to people less off.

I did not mean to offend anyone by posting this thread. I apologise to all those that feel offended.

I do support a number of local charities and also offer my time over weekends at a soup kitchen for the disadvantaged. I visit an aids haven for children once per week and i am in awe of these little heros.

I will post a picture of my wife soon, the house i will leave out, it has caused too much trouble already.

I don't understand why everyone is so harsh towards this guy. Showing off on a forum to 6000 or so strangers is probably not what he's trying to do... it's just the internet guys. He just wants to know what our homes are like... I'm sure his intentions are entirely inquisitive. Sounds like you have a nice home guy, cherish it and ignore some of the people here, they can get very judgmental, very fast.

Just as a matter of interest: If I wanted to employ a servant (domestic assistant to be poltically correct!!) which do you feel i should employ:

If i choose a white then i am probably going to be racist because i did not employ a non white person OR if i choose a non white then i am probably going to be a racist because i did not employ non white person?

There's no accounting for tastes, and taste--good or bad--my friend cannot be taught. You either have it or you don't.

And that once again proves how opinions differ. Marvellous stuff. We get to learn from each other and we realise that what is good for me may not be good for others. Also what is great is that what is right for me may not be right for anyone else!!

I respect momo even more now!! Why? Simple. in a number of my posts he has agreed with my view / opinion and now he does not and stands by that opinion. You have loads of integrity. i appreciate that.

so come on then, lets talk homes!!!

i live in a semi-detached house, 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, Lounge/dining room in one.
Front and back garden, with 2 small shedlike structures.

I have a neighbour, who likes to have his garden look like a jungle, so all his crap prickly plants and hedges come in to my garden... which I cut this weekend and chucked into his garden for HIM to clear up!

I have a attic, which is used for storage.
I have central heating all round, and double glazing.

Typical working/middle class home really.. i just need a wife so i can call myself a Duke

I forgot to mention that I have a bathroom downstairs and upstairs

Exactly. How boring it would be if we all thought and felt like one another; unattested photocopies of one another! If that were so, there would be no point in blogging either. Thank God we are so different!

I live in a rented 2700 sqf secure apartment complex on the hudson river in New Jersey, we have 2 bedrooms, 2 bath rooms and top notch view of Manhatten over the river from the balcony.

there is a tennis court, gym and swimming pool on the development.

my neighbours are mostly retired jews or minted Koreans.

The building is quite old but very well maintained.

Here a google image!

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...76561&t=h&z=14

I want to see a bird eye view of Keiths pad and maybe a view his pet white tigers.

Oh man why did you create this thread.. I am sitting in a dorm with a real jerk of a roommate where so many of us have to share a common bathroom.

You so badly reminded me of my home back in Karachi. A nice house in Defence, 5 bedrooms , 5.5 bathrooms , a really nice kitchen , drawing and dining and a very large basment where we I would watch movies and play video games.

it's only been a few days since i started college.. and i am terrible homesick

i don't know why so many posts in this thread have been so against this guy. he is just asking how you home looks like and not asking to degradea nyone or put someone down.

there are people fond of different things and this guys seems to be fond of homes and hence he is just requiring how other homes look like and stuff.

Nothing wrong with being rich and having a good house but boasting about it to people who are mainly poor is out of order.

It's like going to a cancer ward and boasting about your good health.

Like Keith, I am a white South African (mother of Dutch origin, father Irish). It is a typical afrikaner Dutch mentality to boast about their earthly possesions immediately after they meets someone new. They are an arrogant and pompous lot. The Irish side of my family are very simple and humble but my Dutch family members are mainly an embarrasment

This guy did not start this thread to enquire about the living conditions of Pakistanis but started it to boast which irritated many posters.

Once again, you are an ignorant idiot. I have no dutch in me. my ancestors are from france. I am english, borne and raised. You do not know me so do not judge me.

The rest of the members have now seen another dumb post by you. I told you yesterday to not show your stupidity so blatantly.

You are an embarrasment to all south africans and an embarresment to all these members.

Get a brain and grow up. Not all members beleive the plain hogwash from your silly little jealous mind.

If you notived there seems to have been a pretty good response to the thread.
