Excellent start from the guys. OK it is Belgium and an expected result, but the way we've played in the last couple of years this is a very very good start to Abbasi’s reign. Still serious problems in the defence but at least we were on form and on target in front of goal (something which was seriously lacking during the Olympics)

I am more concerned with offence which is lacking. Last olympics the match against Great Britain there were so many chances missed. Opposition will score but you have to capatilize on atleast half the chances you get

KARACHI, Oct. 4 (APP): Pakistan survives a scare before holding Malaysia to 2-2 draw on the second day of 4-Nation Hamburg Masters Hockey Tournament in Hamburg (Germany) on Saturday, according to information made available by Pakistan Hockey Federation here.

Pakistan twice came from behind to level the terms to share a point each in the event. Shakeel Abbasi and Haseem Khan netted one goal each.

Malaysians were enjoying 1-0 lead at the breather. But Captain Abbasi equalize in 40th minute of the second period. Malaysians pulled one back against in 53rd minute.

However ten minutes from the hooter, Haseem Khan gave his team sigh of relief with his third goal of the tournament.

Pakistan team, however has to blame themselves as failed to convert any of their six short corners.

Malaysian earlier also played draw with World and Olympic Champion Germany on day one. Pakistan will face Germany on Sunday and Malaysian take on Belgium.

Disappointing. Malaysia has improved rapidly in the recent past but we still should have beaten them and beaten them convincingly.

Short corner conversion is the biggest weakness. Its almost like not having a quality fast bowler.

p.s how the heck Malaysia manage a draw with Germany?

^^ lol tell me about it!

But like i said, they have seriously improved in the recent past (have done well in the last couple of Sultan Azlan Shah Cup tourny's).
If you look on the bright side, it could be said that this isn't that bad a result, and also taking into account the 6 PCs we missed, it shows that we're playing some good attacking play. Just haven’t found a replacement for Sohail Abbas (still!)

Man Pakistani team is crappy and with all the rules that have changed over the years, the game has suffered too much.

There was a team in 90 and 94 world cups you could be proud of hockey standards ...

I believe it is a fitness and stamina issue. How could team conceive 5 goals in second half when it has only taken one goal in first half. Unfortunately hockey has become sports of power and energy and less skills.
