India v Australia, 4th Test, Day 5 Nagpur

Last day of the series thankfully.

Can Aus pull out an amazing chase? Or will India continue to a 2-0 series win?

Ricky Ponting not very popular in Australia this morning

Not entirely sure how that works given India have held the BG trophy for about half the time we have been dominant in world cricket.

We are still rubbish in Indian conditions is all it proves.

If Saffers beat us then we are officially decline. We are unofficially already in decline but results not yet showing it.

Aussies are batting as if they are chasing 460, they are playing it like 20/20.
I am sure they could have gone at around 4 runs an over for first half of the day and then take more risks later.

This is the reason I'm hugely in favor of the Referal System. One odd mistake by the umpire can change the entire context of a match. I can't believe Bowden turned down the lbw appeal of Clarke, it was plumb.

Harbhajan Singh to Hayden, no run, Dropped by Dhoni! And it's the big man Hayden. Regulation chance. It was short in length and turning away, Hayden went for the cut, got a thin edge and Dhoni clangs it. He kicks his foot on the ground, Dravid holds his head. Simple chance, really.

If Austrlaia somehow manage to boost their scoring I guess Dhoni will have to slow the over rate down and take a ban from the next test to ensure India dont lose the match.

Hard to slow it down from the glacial pace it is now. 21 overs in a session.

So what would you say if Australia manage to score 375 runs but India only bowl 85 overs before the end of play and rob Australia a chance of facing the full 90 overs and winning the match.

You would think that was good tactics wouldent you.

Do the rules allow them to do that? Tactics within the rules are legitimate.

If the rules are faulty then they need amending.

21 overs in a session is diabolical. I have not watched any of the match but if this is the way india ensure that they win the series then cheating has been taken to a whole new level. make no kistake i would like india to win the series (most neutrals probably do to!!!) but not in this fashion.

Under 4 an over required. With Dhoni spreading the field, the Aussies could actually win this if they play it smart.

Yeah if Dhoni is trying to slow the game down in order to get away with a draw that is pretty shameful tactics. But good to see Haydos and Mr. Cricket going after the bowlers.

If Ponting had of continued with his fast bowlers yesterday and not bowled the allotted overs it would have been tactics outside the rules. Are you now saying what Ponting did was the right thing to do?.

By the way anyone watching this game live, have any idea what all this chat happening on the field between umpires and players is all about?

The spinners are bowling down the legside and Dhoni is standing down leg. The discussion is about Dhoni's positioning (considering that they have 2 fielders behind square on the legside) and the fact that he's moving about behind the wicket before the ball is bowled.

I've seen Dhoni do that before ... Is it legal?

Anyways Mishra on for his first over in this inning.

Now instead of Watson and Haddin, imagine if it was Symonds and Gilchrist to follow!

Mishra wicket in his first over ... not bad effort. And this time Dravid actually holds on.

Watson I think is Australia's last real chance. Don't really rate White or Haddin much from what I've seen of them so far.
