Fundamentalism vs. extremism (extreme religious) vs. terrorism

Now a day seems they are getting used in the same sentence. Also its getting into everyone's mind as if extremely religious is helping terrorism.

However, being fundamental or being very religious is not implying that it supports terrorism.

I will confess here,

Few years back, looking at a person with very religious look (either hindu/muslim/christian) was not ringing any bell in my mind. But few days back, I saw one guy in my office (IT firm) with a beard, pajama/kurta, and the pant (pajama) above the ankle and a leather slip in. And I really looked at him for some time and felt little awkward for sometime.

Few mins later as I was still thinking about him, I felt why am I uncomfortable? He is a guy who is very religious and follows it to core. This shouldn't mean anything more than that.

Also it’s same with some hindu guys who take some religious get up and which should only mean that he is following something seriously.

Now the question is why then being extreme religious or wearing something according to your religion makes people uncomfortable)?

My grand mother was extremely religious and I bet its same for most of PP'er. No one ever had any problem with them.

So why being extremely fundamental to one's religion is a synonym for terrorism?

My verdict:
I felt the problem arises when one tries to impose it on others. As long as I keep it to myself and I can go to any extreme level and no one will have any issues with it.

I feel this is why a lot of us have issues with Taliban, Sri ram sene or Shiv sena.

It's been drilled into our heads by the media ever since the 9/11 attacks. it's unfortunate that it's like that but we have to live with it now. we should definitely not have any problems with people being religious, but that's a tough one to differentiate these days because of what we are being fed by the media.

It's our fault for letting the media do this to us, and it's best that we fix ourselves quickly or we might just become haters.
