Balouchistan government to discuss terrorist activities by MQM in Sindh
QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly admitted for debate on Friday an adjournment motion to discuss what was called Muttihada Qaumi Movement’s coercive actions against Pakhtuns aimed at forcing them out of Karachi.
The session was presided over by Speaker Mohammad Aslam Bhootani. The motion was tabled by PML-Q’s Jaffar Khan Mandokhel who cited incidents of 1985, 1994, May 12, 2007, and July 2008 which forced Pakhtuns out of business in MQM-dominated areas in Karachi and drove thousands of them out of the city. He accused the Sindh government of keeping quiet on the issue in order not to offend its coalition partner. Senior Minister Maulana Wasay supported the motion and said that targeting a particular ethnic group did not bode well for national integrity. The speaker allowed a two-hour debate on the motion on Saturday. Earlier, the house approved a resolution moved by Minister for Irrigation Sardar Aslam Bizenjo, praising the federal government, political parties, media and civil society for resolving the judicial crisis in an amicable manner. It also appreciated the role played by Chief Minister Nawab Raisani in settling the issue. Home Minister Mir Zafarullah Zehri assured that complaints about kidnapping of Nadra officials would be investigated. source: Dawn news

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani has criticised the registration of an FIR against the speaker of the provincial assembly in Karachi and termed it a conspiracy aimed at creating a rift between the two provinces.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said that some frustrated and defeated people and political parties were behind the move. The chief minister was accompanied at the press conference by Speaker Aslam Bhootani, Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, Sardar Aslam Bizenjo and Abdul Rehman Mengal. Raisani said he would contact Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and lodge a protest because the incident mentioned in the FIR, burning of a car in Karachi, had taken place when Bhootani was in Quetta presiding over the assembly session. Urging the Sindh government to order an independent inquiry, he said: ‘Speaker Bhootani represents the elected assembly of Balochistan. This is an attempt to malign him.’ He also said that a resolution would be moved in the provincial assembly on March 24 to condemn the move. Provincial minister and chief of Jhalawan, Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, said that such fake cases could create misunderstandings between Sindh and Balochistan. He urged the Sindh government to take action against police officials who had registered the FIR against the Speaker and his elder brother, former chief minister Sardar Saleh Bhootani, without verification. Aslam Bhootani said he did not know anything about the car which the FIR registered by the Mangohpir police in Karachi alleged he had burnt. President of the National Party Senator Dr Malik Baloch and senior vice-president Senator Hasil Khan Bizenjo said that it appeared that some government circles wanted to punish Bhootani for his positive stand on issues concerning Balochistan. ‘Such steps against moderate political and tribal leaders would add to hatred against rulers.’ They urged the Sindh government to take action against people responsible for registering the fake FIR. Meanwhile, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior, Rehman Malik called Bhootani and condemned the police action. He said he had asked the authorities concerned to take action against the officials who had registered the fake case. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- more friction between sindh and balouchistan
