I always liked Earth song and heal the world .But can't say a particular song . when i am upset i just listen to ''thriller '' and would dance along with it to bring myself up .Rhythm and energy level that song can produce is incredible.

Beat It is king. Songs like Thriller, Wanna Be Startin something, Smooth Criminal, Billie Jean, Bad are classics too. One song that I feel is really underrated is Human Nature; it's beautiful but I guess it got overshadowed by all his other blockbusters in the album Thriller.

Man I am the BIGGEST fan of MJ( And I get to see him at the 02 arena in Jan 2010).

I think so much of his 90's music goes unnoticed just because his 80's music was something that pop music probably will never surpass, so I think I need to shout out to a couple of his really amazing 90's songs.

Stranger in Moscow: The song itself is awesome, the lyrics are bittersweet, and boy if you listen to this song in the rain you are in for a treat( it links a lot with the video)

They Don't care About us: Great song with a great message.. powerful stuff.

HIStory album as a whole was great, definitely under-appreciated because of the legendary 80's THRILLER and BAD

I voted for Billie Jean - and I stand by that vote. Although having listened to so many MJ songs this weekend, its difficult to pinpoint 1!

Just thinking back to the hype of release of 'Thriller' - even my kids know about it, 26 years on!

Its strange but when I was younger I loved the tracks that were commercial hits like Thriller, Billie Jean, The Way you make me Feel however as time has passed I have a preference for tracks such as `Can't Help It` from Off the Wall, Human Nature from Thriller Who is it from Dangerous, Stranger in Moscow from History and Butterflies from Invincible. I suppose that is what made Michael Jackson's music so great, it appealed to different age groups and cultures and it is timeless.

Very well said, so much of his music has been overshadowed by his incredibly amazing mainstream music. But a lot of the songs that were very popular( but not quite as popular as the 80's hits) are overlooked, and it is in these songs( mostly from the 90's and early 2000's) that you will find the true genius of MJ.

Just listen to songs like; Stranger in Moscow, Earth Song, History, Morphine, Blood on the dance Floor, Butterflies, Whatever Happens, Smile

These are the somewhat undiscovered greats of MJ that many of the people haven't heard.

This is a very difficult question to answer. But I think 'Who Is It' might be the winner for me. The lyrics are so simple, but the emotion that he carries in his voice is INCREDIBLY powerful. And the beat is awesome. Only MJ could have pulled it off the way it turned out.

"And It Doesn't Seem To Matter
And It Doesn't Seem Right
'Cause The Will Has Brought
No Fortune
Still I Cry Alone At Night
Don't You Judge Of My Composure
'Cause I'm Lying To Myself
And The Reason Why She Left Me
Did She Find In Someone Else?"

MJ is set to make the charts again this week. I don't really have a one fav song but If I have to pick one. I would pick man in the mirror.

MJ unlike other artists use to have multiple songs within the top 10 I believe he holds the record for having eight songs in top 10. Now I am hearing this week he might take 9 spots.

When MJ died the next day power 105.1 here in NYC dedicated the entire day to his music. So many songs I had never even heard of...great music none the less.

Right now, my current favourites are Give into me, Earth song and They dont care about us.

But Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal over all that anyday ..

MJ was an immensely talented personality, as a singer, a dancer, and a lyricist. His songs are very, very powerful - beauty! Whatever happened with him later on - child molestation allegations, plastic surgeries and whatnot, I believe he should be remembered for what he initially started: An everlasting wave of Pop music, which no other present-day singer could ever surpass.

RIP MJ ..

Man in the Mirror is also an all-time great. Watch this performance of the song. Perhaps the most powerful performance ever. He is clearly lost in the music and message of the song.

The Dont Care About Us is a really underrated song and shows how good rap music could be if more effort was put into it rather than just repetitive beats set to badly rhymed lyrics.

Billie Jean by a mile.

According to Jackson's biographer J. Randy Taraborrelli, "Billie Jean" was derived from a real life experience the singer faced in 1981. The Magic & The Madness documents how a young woman wrote a letter to Jackson, informing the singer that he was the father of one of her twins.[3][4] Jackson, who regularly received letters of this kind, had never met the woman in question and ignored it. The woman sent more letters to Jackson, claiming that she loved him and wanted to be with him. She wrote of how happy they would be, bringing up the child together. She pondered how Jackson could ignore his own flesh and blood. Due to the stress of receiving the letters, the singer suffered from nightmares.[3]

Following the letters, Jackson received a parcel containing a photograph of the fan, as well as a letter and a gun. Jackson was horrified—the letter asked that the pop star kill himself on a certain day and at a specific time. The fan would do the same once she had killed their baby. She wrote that if they could not be together in this life, then they would be in the next. To his mother's dismay, Jackson had the photograph framed and hung above the dining room table of their family home. Afterward, the Jacksons discovered that the female fan had been sent to a psychiatric hospital.[3]

However, Jackson himself stated in his autobiography, Moon Walk, that the song was based on the groupies he and his brothers encountered whilst part of The Jackson 5. "There never was a real Billie Jean. The girl in the song is a composite of people my brothers have been plagued with over the years. I could never understand how these girls could say they were carrying someone's child when it wasn't true."[5][6]

With this female fan in mind, Jackson wrote "Billie Jean", and later stated that when writing the song, he knew it would be a hit.(Wikipedia)

I like this song too:
you wanna be startin' something

Watch the Jacksons in Motown anniversery show as they do some old songs (Jackson 5) and then Michael Jackson starts the legendery Billy Jean performance. See it in order. In first one you can skip half way (If you don't know them) and then listen to the end as that is almost the start of Billy Jean

I have never heard Earth Song but Thriller will not be in his top 10 atleast. It is not a great song in song sense. Not to be played at parties (unless you want o t have fun and mimic MJ) or to listen. It is something else - the video, music, concept etc It is a 10-11 min video of creativity and performance. If I was to rate Thriller in the album Thriller it will probably be number 4-5??? as I can't remember the songs in them

Thanks to his death I started listening more in depth to his non-mainstream albums, and yeah he was a superstar.
