PCB likely to abolish entire departments
PCB likely to abolish entire departments
Published: June 04, 2009 LAHORE - The Pakistan Cricket Board is planning to abolish entire departments in its downsizing bid amid the i mpending financial crisis. The departments are likely to be abolished in the name of "service not required" in an effort to avoid legal wrangling and political pressure. But whatever the decision, they would take the step after approval from the governing board. Reports said that the PCB wanted to sack the employees but was unable to decide which employee, the lower cadre or the senior staff, it should send packing. The PCB fears legal action in case it sacks the low staff and on the other hand political pressure if it sacks seniors. So it might abolish entire sections to get the goals achieved. A senior official of the PCB made it clear that the organisational and administrative set-up of the board would not be revamped without the approval of the general council which will meet soon to decide the fate of some 250 employees. The PCB is planning to enforce a new system for which it plans to lay-off some 250 workers, a move that has already created a lot of concern in the nation's cricket circles. But PCB chief operating officer Saleem Altaf has made it clear that no decision would be taken without the general council's approval. "The general council has to approve the new plan for it to be implemented," reports quoting him said. "The general council is due to meet soon to discuss some important issues," Altaf added Link: http://www.nation.com.pk/pakistan-ne...re-departments |

Hmmmm, never thought there will be recession in Cricket. Atleast in subcontinent.
I hope they don't sack lower grade employees. A job loss affects more to this cadre than the ones who take millions. |
