Group Stages Over: Which Team Has Been Most Impressive?

South Africa tops the list.
India and SriLanka are there and there abouts.
Then follows everyone else although NewZealands fielding has been brilliant and Pakistan have bowled well.

India and South Africa have been the best sides so far in the tournament.
West Indies and Sri Lanka have also risen to the occasion in this tournament.
Pakistan has been the weakest side so far. New Zealand second weakest.

From the teams that qualified right?

Otherwise Australia and Bangladesh are the weakest sides from the group stage.

India were not overly impressive against Bangladesh. Yuvraj rescued them, and I know that this is a point which is valid for every Bangla game, but if the Bangla batsmen kept their heads after such a good start they could have made it close.

SA definately. I though they were the most overrated side coming into the tournament, thinking that having both Kallis and Duminy in their batting line up and a youngster like Parnell opening the bowling, they wouldn't live up to the hype. But they proved me wrong so far, and the way they defended that score yesterday shows how good they are.

South Africa definitely. India didn't look particularly great against Bangladesh. They got the easiest group and their real test will come now. of course I do think they will perform well, just not properly tested yet. Pakistan were not good at all but I expect a much better performance from them in the rest of the tournament now that they've hopefully settled for the playing IX.

Wouldn't look too much into Sri Lanka's performance against Westindies, as there was no Chris Gayle. Without him Westindies are basically nothing in this format.

SL win was not comprehensive. WI managed to lose by 15 runs only even with a big SL score and M & M. With Chris Gayle they would have won.

South Africa - Strong captain, Good team ethic, brilliant fielding, good all round bowling attack and a batting line up which hasnt fired yet and am sure will.

Sri lanka - 2 world class spinners, decent seamers. A very powerful top 4 interms of batting. Only worry for them would be lower middle order lacks big hitters and seamers barring Malinga are average quality.

Both these sides have impressed me though.

Srilanka although have been very imrepssive the balance in their side has not been so great

Its all rainbows and butterflies till the top 3 perform, but Mahela's out of form and one day might be today might be tommorow might be the final the top order will flop and Sri Lanka will struggle in that match.

South Africa on the other hand have such a balanced line up. You could get 4 quick wickets you still have 4 more batsmen in the hut, and you play out the new ball and you have the in form spinners to tackle.

India- I was not very impressed with their fast bowling line up. It is very easy to post a big total against them and then anything can happen. The time to go after them is in the first 6 before the spinners start and in the death when the quickies come back. Batting outstanding as usual

actually you can only look at any weakness sides are showing at this stage .... among the top 4 sides ....Sl is too dependent on Dilshan , in their batting ...SA , Kallis and Dumminly in the same team wont work & apart from Morkel and AB no real clean hitters ....for India , its their third seamer , need to get rid of IKP ...NZ , injuries are a concern & their pace attack is comparatively weak , but the conditions wud help them look better !

Going into the tournament I was thinking South Africa and then India were going to be the strongest teams but during the group stage it's been South Africa and Sri Lanka who have been head and shoulders above the rest.

India had the easiest group but still took 17 overs to chase down 115-ish against Ireland and struggled to bat well against BD until the Yuvraj blitz changed the game. I still wouldnt write them off tho because despite their weak bowling they have enough hitters to chase down any total.

After those 3 it's New Zealand but only if their players can recover and start playing again.

At the moment Pakistan, West Indies and England are about as good as each other but the addition of Razzaq (depending on his form) may push Pakistan above these two teams and even New Zealand.

I feel Ireland are along for the ride and wont cause any more upsets (famous last words)!!

Ishant , Zaheer(pace) + Harbajan , Ojha (spinners ) + yuvi , raina , YP , Rohit (part time options ) ...may not be the best , but only SA and SL have a better attack than us ....& we are at par with WI ..& much much better than NZ , Eng & Pak !

Sri Lanka has looked more stable than any other side...I would leaned towards South Africa but their performance against the Kiwis wasn't up to far.

With Dilshan in top form and Maliga & Mendis keeping the batsmen in check, they will be the team to beat this time around. I can see Sri lanka lifting the cup if they go through to semis which they should with ease.

You are right, however, he is the one who has been very consistent in both the group and warm-up games. If he flops, I can see India struggling to get to Semis.

Our bowlers are bowling pies in the death overs, especially irfan and ishant. RP is the best death bowler we have atm

Yep, that's the problem. The better death bowlers in our team are RP and ZK. They aren't in great form currently, which puts extra burden on slow bolwers like IP.

ikp is good when dhoni keeps up to him( i dont know why he doesnt)..coz simply batsmen walk down and smack him..he is difficult to hit if keeper is up as of now zak and ishant can do a reasonable job at death...

i believe yusuf should always be given 1-2 overs in powerplay simply because he balls straight and gets bounce because of his height he is worth the gamble

Only Zaheer and Ojha are consistent. Ishant can be good at times but he and Bhaji struggle when they're being attacked.

India's death bowling is a complete joke, even a badly out of form Pakistan side smashed the last two overs for 30 runs. And New Zealand took 50 off the last 3 or 4 overs as well.
