Razzak Opening the Bowling: Beneficial or Disastrous?

I personally think Razzak opening the bowling would be a big risk against south africa

But then again he is the only choice so tough luck Pakistan

Yes, Razzaq opening the bowling against the oppositions like SA and WI wud be a big risk and i prefer not to go with him,may b Gul can start with Aamer for one or two overs and Razzaq can come after the PP

I dont know, Razzaq is a very experienced bowler, and seems very threatening with his inswingers against right-handers, thats the reason i dont think he faired well against the left handers in the Ireland match.

But i wouldnt go to the extent of saying his bowling will be disastrous, on the contrary i think his experience in bowling will be beneficial. He has a great head, i personally back him. But then again we dont have a choice as Gul doesnt want to open.

No, it wont be a big risk. He knows where to put the ball for the likes of Smith and Kallis. I am more worried about Amir's bowling that short of a good length deliveries at the start

yes, but Aamer has been successful in hurrying every batsmen he has bowled to so far,

hopefully Razzaks experience will compensate for his lack of pace

Razzaq is the only available option for Pakistan to open the bowling... He can make the ball seam around just a bit which sometimes is enough for an edge or lbw decision...

Its not Test cricket that we may get worried about him not hitting the deck, or not being able to generate pace around 140ks.

In T20 the bowler who bowls more intelligently usually wins the battle. And I think Razzaq is quite intelligent and experienced bowler...

..........................................

By the way, I am seriously starting to hate this negative agenda by some of PPers here... firstly someone trying to argue in one thread that Fawad should be replaced with Shahzad. Now talk of Razzaq being not a handy opening bowler coming into play... This is pathetic stuff..

Can't we remain positive and back our players, instead of all the time criticising them??

Razzaq needs to wake up...maybe he wasn't giving it all he's got against the Irish, but that kind of lethargic bowling will be absolutely hammered by the top sides...it is YK's duty to keep Razzaq on his toes...a good 6 overs right at the start, then Pakistan has the game totally in control

he needs to has have more pace and at least bowl on the stumps just short of a good length, or he will get creamed by smith and co.

Razzaq is just fine, he can be expensive, but he's the best Pak have with Aamir.Gul is best with old bowl, so better not disturb the order.

How about a spinner opening with Aamir? Anyone of Afridi,Ajmal or Alam?

I think if Razaq get thrashed then Alam should be tried

Against a team like South Africa he'll be murdered!

But the thing is that we have no one else, its better to bowl Gul later in the innings and why waste a spinners overs in the first 6 overs?

We have to 'put up' with it, Razzaq just has to concentrate on line and length...and maybe try and increase his speed or vary the bowling more.

Well you have to look at what we got .. Rao is cannon fodder and Tanvir will give away 10 runs in extras every over.

Kallis and Smith ain't exactly big hitter so it won't be so dangerous to give Razzaq two or three overs in the beginning.

If however the pitch is very flat and he does get hit in his first over, YK should not hesitate to bring in spin.

Razzaq has done a good job so far but he is very easy paced

Im afraid unless he steps up the pace or bowls with more variation he could get smashed

I hope he adapts

Pace doesnt matter im T20 its all about keeping the batsmen on his toes and keeping em guessing. As long he keeps it tight and keeps variating his deliveries abdul razzaq can easily pile on pressure onto the opening batsmen.

Look at Abdul Razzaq's figures so far in the tournament. He has bowled well. Even in the Ireland match he wasn't that bad. Abdul Razzaq has bowled better than any other opening bowler that Pakistan has. Who will you replace him with and why? Things are going well this way. One of the main reasons PAk beat NZ was because of the great start he gave us opening the bowling. We struggled against all the big teams before that. Anyone can get taken to the cleaners on a bad day but Abdul Razzaq is Pakistan's best bet.

Where is this Graeme Smith isnt a big hitter stuff coming from. Doesnt anyone remember the 50 he made against Australia in the 438 game. What abt when he and Loots Bosman demolished Pak in a T20 in South Africa.

Graeme Smith is playing a bit slow of late, but hes still scoring runs. Its a scary proposition that a batsman is scoring runs even when not at his best.
