salim malik was even more marginal to our win. Ijaz atleast bowled here and there.
Ijaz was a pretty good fielder, just inconsistent.

Yeah quite canny.

Remember Ijaz affected a wonderful run-out also in the 1992 final. Much like Fawad today and that was after a useless contribution (Ijaz run's out Wasim first ball, Fawad concedes 15 in an over).

I dunno if he's the new Ijaz or not because I haven't seen much of Ijaz..
but have to say, Fawad is really a team man and an exceptional fielder! He's so active and brings energy into the team! It was great to see Wasim Akram praising him soo much..

What I loved about Fawad was that when the rest of the team were running off to celebrate the win, he still chased down the ball and prevented a boundary off the last delivery despite it making no difference to the result.

He really gives a hard time to the ball.

Fawad is neither as ugly in batting nor as effective as the original axeman... Fawad is a more Miandad-isque "Single Double" player

Yes I noticed that too.
I thought he will just run and celebrate and let the ball go for 4 but he surprised me.
That shows young man's commitment, I am impressed.

I have seen Ijaz bat and field. Wonderful batsman, unorthodox but great stroke play. He was one of the best fielder in the team.

Lol @ comment on Bevan,

Not a super star batsman
apart from the fact that he was probably the greatest ODI batsman of all time.

As for people praising Fawads fielding, it was good but its just been a few games. Ijaz was cosistently our best fielder for a long time, and took some blinders along the way.

we are talking about his "fielding"! You really need some more games to judge his fielding?
