Ok now, here it is , 10 signs that you are getting old
1. You address everyone as Beta 2. Your bones creak everytime you get up 3. Your dentures start to loosen and start mixing with the kebabs 4. Airlne staff start to lead you by the hand to your seat 5. The immigration guy at Lahore Airport addresses you as "Buzorgo" 6. When you pick up your kids from school, you wear ironed jeans with dress shoes 7. The chemist knows you by face 8. Saj calls you Bhai 9. Your wife asks if you are OK, everytime you sneeze. And the single most important sign that you are getting on in life is: Drumroll Guys in their 20s and 30s start calling you Uncle !! :-D

Thresholds: With Pain, Older Is Better
By ERIC NAGOURNEY << OLE Object: Picture (Metafile) >> Published: February 1, 2005 Younger people may be assumed to be more resilient physically than older people, but when it comes to chronic pain, researchers have found the opposite appears to be the case. A study that looked at the experiences of more than 5,800 patients seeking treatment at a pain center over an eight-year period found that those over 50 tended to bear up better. The study, which appears in the journal Pain Medicine, was written by Dr. Tamara A. Baker of the University of South Florida and Dr. Carmen Renée Green of the University of Michigan. To gauge the effects of a variety of painful conditions on the lives of the patients, the researchers asked them a series of questions. The patients were asked to describe the intensity of their pain and just how disabled they felt. The study also looked at the psychological effects, asking patients how well they slept, for example, and assessing them for symptoms of depression. The researchers also asked about alcohol use. Like earlier studies, the report found that the black patients had a harder time coping with pain than the white ones. But within both groups, the older patients did better than the younger ones. There could be several explanations, Dr. Green said. In part, it may be that younger people, juggling demands like children and jobs, already have more stress than their elders. But it could also be attitudinal. "The expectations may be different," Dr. Green said. "I often hear when I talk to patients: 'Oh, it's just my arthritis. Oh, it's just aches.' " :oD - aint that true Saj , eh ?

I will post his work on the forum soon.
However, back to the subject - old people in the world are such impressive founts of wisdom - we need more old people !! Sure "they" dont wear baggy jeans and gold chains ( I juts wear them cos I feel good about it ) but can you doubt the number of old people who have made important discoveries ( exception is Eminem who discovered bad language at a very young age ) ? SO whats the moral of all this ? Old people not only require respect - they deserve it ! Left to you youngy types the world will soon become one long all night rave and another thing - old people are handsome and beautiful too ! ( barbed comment aimed at Annie who insists that anyone above 40 is ugly by definition ) So there.......I now ask the wolves and hyenas to rip me apart....

Taken from:
http://www.superlaugh.com/1/oldbites.htm You're getting old when you don't care where your spouse goes, just as long as you don't have to go along. Statistics show that at the age of seventy, there are five women to every man. Isn't that an ironic time for a guy to get those odds? Middle age is when it takes longer to rest than to get tired. By the time a man is wise enough to watch his step, he's too old to go anywhere. Middle age is when you have stopped growing at both ends, and have begun to grow in the middle. A man has reached middle age when he is cautioned to slow down by his Doctor instead of by the police. Middle age is having a choice of two temptations and choosing the one that will get you home earlier. You know you're into middle age when you realize that caution is the only thing you care to exercise. At my age, "getting a little action" means I don't need to take a laxative. Don't worry about avoiding temptation. As you grow older, it will avoid you. The aging process could be slowed down if it had to work its way through Congress. You're getting old when "getting lucky" means you find your car in the parking lot. :oD

Woman, 79, charged with attacking police with cane
Wednesday, February 16, 2005 Posted: 7:58 AM EST (1258 GMT) SOUTH BEND, Indiana (AP) -- A 79-year-old woman has been charged with using her wooden cane to strike police officers who arrived at her home to check on her welfare. St. Joseph County prosecutors said the officers came to investigate a possible domestic abuse charge against Betty Chambers' live-in caretaker, Thomas Holleman, 57. As the officers tried to handcuff Holleman, Chambers allegedly struck Officer Lonny Foresman over the head with her cane, prosecutors said. Foresman suffered a mild concussion while Sgt. John Pavlekovich suffered a separated shoulder and hand injury, said Jaimee Thirion, a spokeswoman for St. Joseph County police. Prosecutors charged Chambers and Holleman on Tuesday with resisting law enforcement and battery. "This is a serious concern because police are there to protect all of us," said St. Joseph County Prosecutor Michael Dvorak. A phone number listed under Chambers' name at her address had been disconnected. :oD :oD |

And I hope this is not sarcasm, cause I shirk from it :-D but thats the disadvantage of being intelligent "Thanks so what he means is that if I start thinking about whats gone on my life till now, I will be here forever !" Two elderly gentlemen are playing cards on Saturday evening just as they have done for the past 50 years. Gus, the elder, had been having problems remembering what cards were what, and usually needed help from his wife. At the end of the card game Red said to Gus, "You did very good tonight. You didn't need any help at all. Why is that?" Gus replied, "Why, ever since my wife sent me to that memory school, I haven't had any problems at all." "Memory school? What memory school?" Gus thought for a moment, "Oh, what's that flower that's red with thorns? A really pretty flower . . . " "A rose?" asked Red. "Yeah, that's it!" Gus turned to his wife and mumbled, "Hey, Rose! What's the name of that memory school you sent me to?"
