Britain to proscribe Hizb-ul-Tehrir and Al Muhajiroun
article source: www.geo.tv
LONDON: British Prime Minister Tony Blair has unveiled a sweeping set of measures to combat terrorism announcing hardline groups such as Hizb-ul-Tehrir and Al Muhajiroun would be proscribed. Addressing a press conference at Downing Street Blair also announced a move to consider opting out from EU human rights obligations. He said in the autumn session a bill to deport the persons who advocate terrorism will be introduced in the parliament. Britain's interior ministry was publishing new rules on deporting the persons who advocate terrorism, Blair said, including fostering hatred or advocating violence. He said the hardline groups active in the country such as Hizb-ul-Tehrir and Al Muhajiroun would be proscribed. "Anyone who has participated in terrorism or has anything to do with it, anywhere, will automatically be refused asylum in our country," he warned. Efforts would be made to speed up this process, including a possible review of the 1998 Human Rights Act, which incorporates the European Convention on Human Rights into domestic law, the prime minister said. Overall, the response of the British people had been "unified and dignified and remarkable", Blair said, despite some "isolated and unacceptable acts of racial or religious hatred". "The Muslim community, I should emphasise, has been and is our partner in this endeavour," he said. "Much of the insistence on strong action to weed out extremism is coming most vigorously from Muslims themselves, deeply concerned lest the activities of the fanatical fringe contaminate the good reputation of the mainstream Muslim community in this country." |

there was an itv news report claiming that the hizb ul tehrir have spreaded and working underground and heavily in former soviet states in asia. the report said that the hizb say they are against violence but support peaceful methods of creating a khilafah. I am not convinced about what the hizb say though as they seem just as extremist and fanatic as the al mahajoroun. it would be good that the leaders of these groups be extradited from britain where they seem to operate more freely and causing problems for the genuine peace loving muslims.

I am convinced that the leaders of HT and Al-Mahaj are agents of the West...funded by the Western Govts...given Asylum status...living a life of luxury.
I mean, if they didnt exist...who could the USA/UK constantly blame??? |

Hizb-ut-Tahrir members normally stand outside my local mosque and hand out leaflets after friday prayers. They usually show a bit of rebellion but are not particularly extreme. Most of the time, they make reasonable arguments although they do overstep the mark sometimes, especially when it comes to America and Israel/Jews.
I think people need to think for themselves and decide whether what they are reading has any truth in it. With Hizb, it is normally clear from the headline whether the article is worth reading. I've never been in contact with al-muhajiroun so don't know what they usually focus on but knowing that Omar Bakri is their leader is enough to tell me to keep away. |

Look both HT and al mahajoroun are off the same sort who promote and are extremist and fanatics. Al Mahajoroun are much more open and blunt about promoting violence and extremism but ht claim that they are 'peaceful'. Both are living in the clouds trying to create an islamic state in britain and say that we shouldnt follow the laws made by tony blair..yet they both these groups love benefits and social security.
HT is actually the group that started but maybe it is a conspiracy theory as oxy says with al mahaj that was formed by breaking away from ht? both have the same similar views and maybe it is a western conspiracy and the breakaway faction is to make them look disorganised, dis-united, chaotic and bickering, fighting amongst themsleves just like 3rd world and muslim countries of today: to show the world that they are jahil or something??? all thats a just a theory offcourse but one thing for sure these groups are making life difficult for ordinary peaceful muslims like many of us in the west. |

Regarding handing out leaflets:
well these groups have tried but thankfully uinsucessfully taking over mosques and brain washing more and more people with there propaganda leaflets. best thing all of us could do is refuse to take them. These groups arent welcome in our mosques to teach there extremism and violence, and i am glad my local mosque has taken action by having the police remove them or try to in handing leaflets outside mosque after jumma prayers. |

Finally these ht and al mahaj are quite hypocritical. they say that its haram to vote, its haram to buy a house in the uk as we have to pay interest, it's haram to follow uk law and tony blair etc
However, these ht/al mahaj liv of social security, some have jobs such as in the legal profession and things which they consider haram. if they really hate the west then they should f off. anyway one ht/ al mahaj guy said to me that i shouldnt follow the law and pay road tax etc. i knew what job he was in and said btw are u not studying as a lawyer and working at some solicitor? he said yes and so. i replied telling him how can he say not to follow the law when he himself is making a living from it and in a way promoting, following it and being a hypocrite. the chap looked embarrass and then said after a while that he was just earning a living and not following it..lol another situation was when someone told me how this ht guy said loudly on the train how muslims are going to 'kill' the shetan and non believers to rule the world before the day of judgment. he named about slaughtering people of another religion which i wont name...but the gaurah siting near him was going all bright red. I dont blame the gaurah for getting angry and upset because he probably was an innocent person who respected all but after hearing that he must think that these people are fanatics and evil...and probably start to hate muslims. Can u blame this gaurah non muslim? I don't because Islam is a faith which promotes peace and INVITES people to it ..and ceartainly not talk like these extremists which only drives people away and makes them hate muslims and generalise. |

So why isn't the BNP banned? The freedom of speech argument doesn't work!
Very hypocritical! The problem (for the UK govt at least) is not that these parties such as HT exist but that people hold these views. There are genuine political concerns in the Muslim community which need to be aired. The feeling of disenfranchisment already exists in our community. By not addressing the real issues it'll just push it underground and lead to further terrorism. Blair has lost it - see my thread on PM get's tough. |

but I am 99% sure that it isnt haraam to get a grade cut or nobody would be able to get a 'tind' and be able to get a hair cut. I could be wrong but i have seen sons of big scholars and imams get grades done and they seem to lecture about things but obviously have no probs with grades.

Women often opt for short hair because of the way it frames the face. Short hairstyles are sometimes a form of beautification for most women. Given this, according to Islam, there is nothing wrong in women having their hair shortened as long as it is done for the sake of beautifying themselves and nothing more. This is quite different from shaving head, which is completely forbidden for women. If a woman has her hair cropped with the intention of looking masculine or non-Muslims, then it is forbidden, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is reported to have said: "May Allah's Curse be inflicted upon women who imitate men and vice versa." (Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim) In this regard, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states: “A woman can shorten her hair provided she avoids a hairstyle peculiar to men. The Prophet (peace and blessings be on him) has cursed men who copy women and women who copy men. This applies to hairstyle and appearance. So long as she avoids this, she is permitted to cut her hair. There is no prohibition in the sources. We should remember that originally the rule is permission; prohibition is only an exception. |

ALso these ht al mahaj guys call every single thing u could think of almost as haram:
such as voting, follwoing the uk law, paying taxes and u name it. They could be right but unlikley but even if they are they themselves take all the benefits of the system and state. They milk it silly. |
